It was easier to just focus on the practicalities of survival rather than if anything of the past week or months had affected her. If they had, which they undoubtedly had, Vala was so adept at brushing everything away under a cover of innuendo and sarcasm it was merely second nature to pretend as if everything with herself was fine.
