It took Sobek a second to understand what the gesture even meant at all, if only because Daniel burst out a sick laugh in their head, outraged glee and inappropriate, at Eva's cheek, and a second longer because she'd spoken in Spanish. The message became clear. Daniel's amusement shuddered into fear again. Eva didn't know what she was doing, and it wasn't like she could push Sobek into killing her. Death had no meaning here.
Sobek smiled viciously, all teeth and no humor.
The God reached out, the same startling speed that he'd used to snap the fanatics' necks, and caught her wrist. Unconcerned if he broke freshly healed bone, dragged her easily out of the sarcophagus as if she weighed nothing and dumped her to the ground amongst the corpses. The blood was fresh and heavy on the ground, splashed and stained her purified skin. Eva found herself against those that he'd killed. He forced her face to the blood.
"Explain what happened here, slave. Where is Ammit?" Sobek spat out.
