LF Blacksmith will tip [OPEN]

The ruins of the City may be disheartening to the rest of the crew, but Kyladriss wasn't concerned with repairs of any kind. She stalked through the streets dragging a pile of robot parts on a large awning she'd salvaged from one of the buildings, inspecting fallen enemies with a critical eye.

She ignored circuitry and smaller parts in favor of larger pieces of sheet metal, prying the pieces off with her bare hands. It may not be saronite, but she supposed it would do.

When she judged she had enough scrap to at least cover her person, she dragged her claim across the city to Hiccup's workshop, where she had been told she could find a blacksmith. Unlike in Stormwind, it seemed that finding one here was a rare feat. Luckily this one was also a Councilor, and made it easy to track him down.

Kyladriss dragged the scrap to his front door and sat down beside it to wait.

"Looking for something?"

Rainbow Dash poked her head down to look at what Kyladriss was doing. Upside-down, since she had just dove down from the sky, then stopped in midair.

Kyladriss had seen winged horses before, certainly - rare though they were. But talking winged horses, especially tiny, brightly-colored ones, were definitely outside of her realm of experience.

Her first instinct was to protect her prize, and she positioned her body between Rainbow Dash and the pile of scrap, hunching her shoulders. "I require a set of armor. Until now I did not have the materials to salvage - now I do."

"Armor, huh?" She rubbed her chin thoughtfully with one hoof. "Applejack was looking for some of that too. You know someone who makes it?"

"There is one of the Councilors, Hiccup. He is a blacksmith." She hadn't actually met him in person and so had no idea how skilled he was, but there wasn't exactly a variety in the market.

"I am taking this to his forge when I have gathered enough."

"You don't have enough yet?" She finally righted herself, looking at the metal sheet again. "I'll help you look. What should I look for? I need some extra for Applejack, if she's really gonna stick to wanting armor--" which Dash doubted -- "but I don't mind splitting it if you tell me what's good."

Kyladriss hesitated. Having to split her take would mean more time before she could go camp out in front of Hiccup's forge, which meant there was a chance she would miss him.

But two pairs of eyes were more efficient at spotting usable scrap than just one pair. Kyladriss doubted the... whatever it was had the strength to salvage the parts, which meant she would be doing most of the work, but perhaps she could convince it to pull the awning.

"Very well," she said. "For armor it is best to find large sheets of metal. I have been salvaging torsos where I can. The constructs that rolled into a ball have curved sheeting - that is valuable for shoulder armor."

She made a face at the mention of 'torsos' -- seriously, gross. But she studied the metal Kyladriss had just pulled up.

"Hey, I think I saw one of those back that way!" she said, pointing a hoof off to one side -- and then before the worgen could say anything she was gone, a rainbow trail in the air marking her passage.

Before that could even properly fade, she was back, hovering in midair with a battle droid gripped firmly between her forehooves. "No, it was one of these. Is this any good?" She peered over its shoulders at the chest area.

Yeah, ponies were pretty strong, and Rainbow Dash was a pretty strong pony.

"Guess you're not with the cleanup crew, then." Zouichi shed his helmet, placing it on top of the large black bike he'd been using to get around while scouting out the damage to the City. "Long time no see. You doing all right?"

Here was the strange person she remembered from when she'd first fallen out of the pods. His inquiry after her welfare was unexpected - she hadn't exactly interacted with much of the crew and doubted she had particularly endeared herself to anyone.

"I was not injured severely in the battle," she said by way of reply. "No thanks to my lack of battle plate. That is what I am attempting to rectify."

Impressive. It seemed like her initial assessment of the pony was flawed - she could actually be of help.

Kyladriss reached out and grabbed the battle droid by the faceplate, relieving her of the burden of carrying it. She sat down on the street and began methodically dismembering the robot so that she could better pry the armored sections away from their circuitry. "It is better to have more materials than less," she said, apparently unaware of how disturbing some may find her. "Whether or not it can be used, I am unsure, but I am gathering as much raw material as I can. The blacksmith will tell us if any of it is usable."

An enigma, indeed.

"So you're going to try and get some made out of scrap metal?" Zouichi frowned a little. "Well, it's not like I'm an expert in plate mail, but... it didn't do the robots much good. You sure you wouldn't be better off in some of that Thorn Armor or something?"

"It is true that it is not saronite," Kyladriss said, looking over her pile of scrap. She tapped one of her claws on the blade of her sword - it made a strange whispering tang, the sound of saronite metal. "But with enchantments, it will perhaps suffice."

If it didn't, she'd take her frustrations out by beating something senseless in the Sensoriums and then figure out another plan.

"I will wait for the blacksmith's decision on whether these materials are suitable. Some of the constructs - robots - were quite impervious to my blade. I am searching for those primarily."

"I'm not really familiar with saronite, but if you can describe what those robots looked like, I can probably help you search for them. You want their main carapaces, right?"

Zouichi had really been too busy exploding robots to take much note of what they were made of. Maybe she meant the Terminators.

"That makes it easy then! I'll have you a stack to your ears in no time at all!"

Rainbow Dash flew off again, visible not terribly far away as she swooped down to pick up some shattered chunk of robot. She promptly flew back, dropped it in a pile, then shot off again. With a good cause and a friend's need motivating her, she wanted this done FAST!

Kyladriss had almost forgotten what it was like to work with a determined ally. The pony might make a very strange ally, but she was helping Kyladriss with a cause she held dear, and despite herself she felt a cautious respect forming.

"What are you called?" she asked, having to raise her voice because the pony never seemed to be next to Kyladriss for more than a second at a time. She continued her methodical work of stripping the robots down and prying plates of scrap away from their inner structures.

Kyladriss nodded, indicating the awning covered in scrap with one clawed hand. "There were those that traveled by rolling into a ball - but perhaps their durability came from their shield, because I do not find it difficult to accidentally bend the plates when I am removing them. Then there were the humanoids constructs with the red eyes, that could not be stopped by any of my means. The creatures with the single eye are not intelligent enough to be a threat but their armor plating is impressive."

The destruction droids, terminators and daleks. That's what Kyladriss was after, although she'd take bits of scrap from other things if those were in short supply.

Hearing that, Rainbow Dash paused long enough in her zipping-about to grin as she hovered nearby. "The name's Rainbow Dash!" she said. "I'm new here. Just got dumped out of one of those slime pods. If you ever met Applejack or Pinkie Pie or Rarity, they're friends of mine, we all come from the same town."

It really had not quite sunk in that ponies were in the vast minority both on the ship and in the cosmos.

"Okay, got it." Out of all of them, Zouichi had had the most contact with the Terminators, and their ability to keep going despite all damage to deter them had... well, kind of impressed him. He didn't know much about those Daleks, but he could keep an eye out for them, too.

He looked around, spotted one of the larger piles of rubble, then began sifting through it, lifting heavy beams carefully out of the way as one might put aside children's toys. There were benefits to enhanced strength. "Anyway, not everyone came out of that in one piece. I guess we're lucky in that regard."

"I am Kyladriss, a Knight of the Ebon Blade," she said, returning the greeting.

There were more of this creature on the ship? Kyaldriss supposed they were no more ridiculous than gnome warriors. She worked her claws underneath the chest of the battle droid, slicing through the circuitry to pull it away.

"I have been aboard the ship for a brief amount of time, but I remember the experience you describe. It was not pleasant."

Kyladriss considered the cuts on her arms - cuts that she would have to have stitched closed, as they would not heal themselves. "Luck had nothing to do with it," she said. "The unskilled rely on the skilled to protect them. I have the ability, I used it, I survived."

She was very matter-of-fact about the whole robots attacking the ship thing. Such things weren't exactly commonplace on Azeroth, but they did have elementals randomly rupturing into their capital cities and dragons torching whole districts. Sudden crisis was the norm, and Kyladriss found some measure of comfort in the fact that it was no different here.

"Even less pleasant when the thing you were in isn't designed for a pony and drops you on your back," she grumbled. "What's a 'night of the ebon blade'? It sounds like a holiday name, but somehow I get the feeling that it's not. Call me crazy."

Yes, Kyladriss could see how ending up on your back as a pony could be problematic. Ending up on your back as a worgen wasn't a smart idea either.

But Rainbow Dash's next question caught her so by surprise that for a moment she just stared at the pony with her unsettling blue eyes. "We are an order," she said. "Of knights." Her tone said 'obviously,' but she didn't add that in words.

Zouichi raised an eyebrow at her. Skill didn't have much to do with whether your pod had been the one chosen when SHODAN had decided to put on her little show. But somehow, he felt like he didn't quite have the heart to point that out. They had been parents, friends, comrades. They probably didn't need to be trotted out to prove a point.

"You don't seem very phased by what happened."

"Oh, that kind! Sorry, we don't have any of those on Equestria," she said with a chuckle. "We USED to, but that was a long time ago!"

She spotted a promising glint of metal under a wide slab of stone that had come from a collapsed wall. Landing by it, she propped her shoulder against it and began to push it aside with a grunt. It seemed overwhelming, but Rainbow Dash had a surprising amount of (wait for it) horsepower.

"I have fought much greater evils than SHODAN, who attacked with just as much warning," Kyladriss said. When Deathwing burst from his prison beneath the earth, all of Azeroth had to drop what they were doing and immediately respond to the threat. "And the Alliance and the Horde are at war. Before I was taken to the ship I spent many nights on the front lines."

Finally realizing that Zouichi was doing most of the work unearthing her raw materials, Kyladriss dropped the edges of the awning and moved to help him. She eyed the size of the pieces he was tossing aside. "I was correct when I said you were not human, wasn't I? Are you a construct?"
