Maxine smiled faintly at the 'great minds' comment, but didn't say anything (for once). She nodded. This was definitely going to be an issue.

There were a lot to face, and just the two of them. They could call for backup, but people were dealing with a lot of their own problems elsewhere, too. This wasn't going to be easy.

"I could use my powers to deflect any attacks to an extent-- but they've been severely limited. Normally I'd be able to do a lot more, maybe even clear a path completely. Maybe if-- I could make a distraction, maybe, and give you time to get try and get through? But what if some still stay behind and go after you? I couldn't let that happen."
