[open] wide open spaces
Hydroponics was simply amazing.
It was relaxing. That was the best way Aerith could describe it. She was sure there had been plenty before her to make this observation, though. Still, it was comforted her in a way she'd needed. Even if it wasn't the planet, her planet, it still gave her a sense of peace. Despite it being an artificial environment, it was realistic and that in itself was astonishing to her.
Nanaki had mentioned the area before, but seeing it for herself was a different story. It made her forget, just for a moment, about being on a strange ship in the middle of space.
That was a nice feeling. She could see why people would spend a lot of time here.
So she wandered around, absorbing what she could, taking in all that was around her. Aerith didn't have a specific purpose - other than exploring. It certainly was a big place.

Meeting new people was more important, though, and she waved a little. "Hello! I seem to be spacing out a little here," she said with a small laugh. "It's my first time coming to Hydroponics, and I just want to take in everything."
no subject
"My name is Fuu Hououji--I'm still rather new here, I'm afraid. What's yours?"
no subject
"I'm not exactly sure, but long enough to start poking around I suppose. It's amazing just how large this ship is."
no subject
She smiled back, though. "It's very nice to meet you, Miss Aerith. Have you thought about joining any of the departments yet?"
no subject
"I have actually," she tapped a finger on her chin as she thought. "I'm able to do a little bit of healing magic, so I was told I could be in both departments. I should look more into that, I got distracted with exploring." She smiled at this, amused at herself and how easily she threw herself into discovering the areas of the ship.

She looked at Aerith more curiously now. "What kind of magic do you use? Is it all healing?"
no subject
Which worried Aerith a bit, but it still made sense - she wasn't connected to the Planet anymore, and the Lifestream had amplified her abilities. She hadn't really tested them since being on ship, but it was something she felt inside her, bone deep and true. "Mostly I'm able to heal wounds - I don't know about anything large, but normal injuries from battle. I've been able to cure poison and some disease, but I don't know if I can do that here."
no subject
But she brightened up. "Your healing abilities are more extensive than mine are! I have a healing spell, but I don't think it would work on disease... although my own magic has been weakened here, too." It still worked, but this wasn't Cephiro and Fuu couldn't just will her magic stronger. "But may I ask what materia is?"
no subject
Aerith wasn't fully up on how exactly materia worked, but she knew how it was created. "Materia is a substance created back home - it can be made from the Lifestream or manufactured. It gives people the ability to cast magic or summon, even if they don't have the natural ability to do so."
Realizing that Fuu probably didn't know what the Lifestream was, Aerith smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, I should probably explain the Lifestream. It's this energy that flows through our planet. It's where everything goes once it's life is finished." That was about the simplest way to explain it. She could probably go into a lot more detail, but she preferred keeping it short and sweet unless someone was that curious.

Nevertheless... using the energy of living souls to cast magic spells? It sounded rather dark to Fuu. I think I prefer Cephiro's way of learning magic. "It sounds like an amazing technology," was what she said. "The engineers on your world must have been extremely talented. But I think I prefer healing magic as well. I don't like hurting people, even when I don't have a choice."
