Thankfully for Ellyn's dignity, there was indeed a piece of rope nearby with a hook that was used to bring up the buckets. It wasn't as good as the other wells that had an entire system, but this was rarely used in the first place.

Just a matter of not accidentally getting whatever is in there wet.
