It all seemed so empty and shallow to him. Not to mention adding a bunch of unnecessary clutter to ones life. If one ever managed to get into his quarters on the Ptolemy, they wouldn't find much. Outside of a handful of clothes (He doesn't need that big of a wardrobe), a couple of pictures tucked into a drawer, and a flower, there wasn't any kind of unnecessary adornments. And, really, the flower he only kept because of who gave it to him and why, not because of what it was.
