He laughed. "She is, and she would take that as a compliment. She's the toughest woman I know."
"As to why? McNinja family tradition; we've all been part of the life since birth. Mom's mom married into the family, took the mask, everything, and she got raised just as tough as I did. Probably worse, actually. Grandpa Lowe was pretty scary." He shrugged. "I can't complain, it's just part of the ninja way. It's like being Amish but with way more murder and better pay."
"But mom made the mistake of bringing me around dead bodies to educate me on the physical details of how to take down an armed adult when I was five or sixish and I got a little obsessed I guess. I loved the complexity of the human body and the detail work of medicine. The older I got the more I realized that I wanted to help people more than I wanted to get paid to hurt them so I got myself into pre-med."
He leaned back on the bench with his blade over his knees. "I've got THIRTY degrees, actually." He told her with a grin. "I cloned myself and went to thirty different schools then re-absorbed all my other selves. So I'm licensed to practice medicine in twelve countries and have specializations all over the map."
"It's nice to have specialties." He waggled his brows at her. "You got a favorite piece?"
