Yukio was trying to keep his voice low and to a respectable level, so he really hoped Rin would stop YELLING EVERY TIME HE SPOKE.
"You're dedicated to the idea of being an exorcist, but that requires follow-through with both your studies and training; it's not just something you can do whenever you fancy it, especially with this new change of events. You have physical strength, yes, but it's more than that. It's self-discipline, being able to keep a cool head in hectic situations."
Yukio raised a hand and began counting off a finger for each point he made and was very successful at keeping skepticism out of his voice and off his face.
"I wouldn't call 'taking my sword out and slashing at things', or 'burning everything with fire before thinking of a strategy' skill, but perhaps we have a different definition of the word. Do I even need to mention 'knowledge' with how often I have to get on you to do simple homework?"
This is called tough love, Rin. He's being harsh because he cares about you, but you'll never catch him admitting it.
"I'll hold on to it for now. You're going to be talking to people and exploring this place, anyways." His brother might actually feel compelled to read it, now that he'd nagged him a bit. Really, he was just delaying a disaster.
