Howard said he was down before arrived, and John called for help. He wouldn't implicate himself, it made no sense. So whoever attacked him had to have done it before and left him standing there. Or something. Even though he couldn't shake the idea that someone had deliberately attacked him, no accident, it wasn't a big deal right now. The dig mattered more.
