Cassie nodded, a little disappointed, but she knew that it had been a lot to expect, so she said nothing. "I'll ask them then the next time I see them then. It can't hurt."
It was sweet of Jamie to be concerned for her, but he needn't have worried. If worse came to worse, Cassie was perfectly capable of protecting herself, although she preferred to avoid confrontation if she could. "I wanted to look around for a few more minutes to see if I could find anything that might tell me more. After all, it would be better to go back with more then a vague idea of an animal that squawks," she responded slowly. Then she hesitated though as she watched her companion. She didn't want to worry him and she could tell he was concerned about leaving her alone from his tone. "If you'd really like then I can walk back with you, but you don't need to worry about me. I'll be fine."
