Marco went still. He'd always been the one that was ruthless, the one who understood that sometimes you had to had to do things that weren't nice and moral in order to reach the end goal. But he'd still never tortured anyone. The only one of them who'd ever come close was Ax, although Marco didn't really know much about what he thought about it. He hadn't exactly been talkative about it. And for a moment Tobias flashed into his head; in that box, alone, and the way he was never the same again afterwards.

But his Mom wasn't Taylor. She understood war, but she didn't seek out inflicting pain for the sake of pain. She was like him - she did what was necessary, because someone had to do it. And even if the idea of his mother torturing someone was unsettling...she wouldn't do that unless she had to, right?

"But that would be because you needed to, right?" Marco said, his voice tinged with just a little bit of desperation. "I mean, if you didn't have any other choice..."
