There's a distinct look of dismay on Jamie's face as the books are stacked next to him, but it's hard to say if it's because Victoria had to let go or if it's because, well, there's so many books. Quite possibly it's a bit of both.

"When do you expect me to read all those?" he says, some of that particular look creeping into his voice. "I'll not be there that long!"

It's quite possible there would have been more in that vein, but then the Doctor has to go and mention sorting out the TARDIS, which...he thought that the problems after he had been hypnotized had been fixed already.
