"Aye," Jamie replies, curling his fingers around hers a little tighter once it looks like she's not going to let go. "I'm glad you're not hurt as well." He stops, looking at her intently for a moment as he tries to work up the nerve to say something else - something that he's been meaning to for some time now. Rory would tell him to just go ahead and do it, he thinks, and he finally continues. "Look, there was something I wanted to ask..."

Whatever he was about to ask is interrupted by that cheery 'Morning, you two!', and he looks up to see the Doctor with...books. Lots and lots of books. While part of him has a sinking feeling that those books are meant for him, a rather larger part is simply glad that the Time Lord is there, and got through the battle unscathed enough to be coming to visit with reading material.
