Eva, meanwhile, seems to have lost track of Cassie entirely. She mills through the crowd, but she's far from the tallest person, so unless she happens to bump right into a horse she can't find Cassie by sight.

The crowd is moving more quickly now as a new ship of refugees floods out, and despite Eva's protests, they move forward quickly enough to sweep her away. She has to keep moving, or they might trample her or knock her down. Neither of which are options she's too keen on exploring.

She wishes she had thought speak, but there's little she can do to find Cassie now. She knows the girl is more than capable, and that's some comfort as she gets pulled along with the crowd.
