Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

Over in the triage tent, Miranda took a deep breath, and held out the black disc that was her Time Record. She'd been unsure so often of her place on the ship, and her ability to be useful. But this - this she knew. This was how she could truly be useful.

"Activate," she said, and her Time Record instantly whirled into life, with bubbles of light spinning in circles around the disc. "Time Recovery!"

The lights moved, growing larger to encircle around the tent, wrapping around it all and restoring all within it - patients, broken equipment, everything - to its normal, peak condition. Once everything had been restored the lights died down, but a large black clock face had now appeared over the area, representing the fact that Miranda's ability was active.

Now, everyone who came within this area would be healed - temporarily. "My ability can heal the wounds of everyone within this tent, but only temporarily," she explained to the native doctors and med staff. "And I cannot bring back the dead. I can keep people alive and well until they can be treated, but I'm afraid they will still need healing. I...I hope this will help."

Her ability might just be a band-aid, but it was a very effective band-aid. After explaining into more detail just how her Time Record worked, she moved to stand outside in front of the MASH unit. This way, the triage would be included within her ability, but the would leave the main MASH tent unaffected. She would also be able to affect those being brought to tent much more quickly - a few seconds could mean everything.

[[ooc: Okay, so this thread is basically the 'everyone within the area of Miranda's Time Recovery Ability' thread, which will cover triage and the area in front of the MASH unit. Any damage a person has will be restored as long as they are within this area, and the restoration process looks somewhat like this. Both existing injuries and injuries gained while being affected by the Time Record will be restored. The moment they leave the area, all those injuries will return.

If you want to thread with Miranda herself, please poke me oocly. Otherwise, feel free to make your own threads, and go ahead and play out your characters being affected by the Time Record. If you have questions, you can ask me here on the individual planning post]]

Clark hadn't bothered switching out of his clothes when the call came out. He knew what was going to happen when they got down to the planet. This is probably why, when the crew finally touched down, he instantly went into a sprint.

He saw the bodies that laid dead. No more. The Ohm would take no more lives this day.

One by one, the dull colors that symbolized Clark were torn away as the colorful red and blues became apparent.

"This looks like a job... for Superman."

The first set of Grunts in his way would easily see that as they were quickly scattered.

"Everyone, please! Keep going and don't panic! Everything'll be okay!" Vivio called out. Hanging back here, away from the Ohm, was probably for the best for Vivio. To reassure the others, she had once again taken up her adult form, knowing that a child doing so would make things worrisome.

Peter thanked the stars that Lash had installed way-too-powerful speakers in the Spider-Mobile and linked them to the horn. The resulting noise was heard throughout the crowd, quieting it down briefly.

"You heard the lady. Quit panicking and move in an orderly fashion. Trying to trample all over each other like a bunch of kindergarteners is just gonna slow things down."

Ground fighters? No thank you. The wizard surveyed the battle from the skies, robes and fluttering around him in the chaotic breezes both natural and generated by the battle.

"For now, small-scale tactics. I have a feeling we'll be saving the most powerful of our abilities for closer to the end of this struggle."

His ability had no limits save his own.

For now, Morgan was doing what he could to save lives, and he was doing that through a priority system he found sincerely grim. Noncombatants and civilians received just enough treatment to keep them from collapsing, a quick bolstering of their life force to heal the worst of their wounds. All the pain and suffering he couldn't do much about, he left behind with a dark expression on his face.

He'd be back to help them if time allowed, he promised.

Ow. No, that's quite all right, he hadn't needed those ears.

"Quickly and orderly, please," he said, with just a little of the force that came from time spent teaching children.

"FOR THE GLORY OF QUEL'THALAS! FOR AZEROTH!"

The paladin yanked off his shield and threw it in one swift motion. It slammed into a Grunt just now clambering over a pile of debris in the middle of a narrow cannon, then bounced backwards to slam into the two Grunts close on its tail.

Mar snatched the shield out of the air as it came back to him, then slid it on. "Come get a face full of white-hot holy energy and aggro!"

Ben nodded, all business as he floated next to Abi, the cool chill of Big Chill in the air. "Sounds good to me," hissed the ghostly creature.

Negi stood, standing on his staff and floating a good meter over the battlefield with his little group. Chamo sat on his shoulder and he looked at his friend. "Everyone ready? We're going to be fighting in close quarters here."

Great, a desert. That was going to significantly diminish what she could do with her bending. Luckily for her, she had been training exactly for this kind of terrain in case it ever had to happen. What was more, now Katara was around, so if needed, the two could at least combine their efforts.

For now, she would have to make do with what she had, which was the armor and the plasma rifles she'd trained with before. Taking advantage of the scattering grunts, she shot at them, then sent a few more shots towards some approaching before taking some cover herself.

She was incredibly thankful for how easily she could move with the armor on.

Aqua had reminded herself before arriving to the battle not to exhaust herself on ultimate attacks, that lower-powered attacks would still be effective. It was her first battle since Terra, and organizing things in her mind was all she could do to fight off the shaking. Everything had gone wrong that day, and now she had even more people counting on her. Sasami was with her, Hoshi was with her friends, Reimi was in space as far as she knew, Rein was with her friends, she wasn't sure about Hay Lin...

But now that she was actually here, it changed. The training she'd had since childhood returned to her, and her mind felt calm.

"I'm ready," she answered.

Devlin was one of the few who actually looked like a kid there, and so that meant he was in charge of keeping the kid evacuees in line.

"Come on," he said, trying his hardest to be patient with the crying kids--particularly ones who'd been separated from their families. "It's going to be okay. We're going to get you out of here."

As much as Signum really did want to be with her friends from home, she knows her strengths lie in offense, not defense. That's why she's flying, transformed, along with some of her newer friends from the ship.

"I'm keeping 75% of my cartridges in reserve for emergencies or hard targets," Signum agrees, looking down from their flying position at the disposition of the battlefield.

"Ben and I will charge ahead and relieve the GIA while Aibghalien and the others provide fire support. Any objections?"

As a member of Security and someone who was especially concerned about protecting the innocents from the onslaught, Tim found himself acting more in a defensive capacity than an offensive one. But he was also well aware of his abilities and his limitations-- he'd come from a background of working with metahumans, after all.

It was clear that this was the role he was currently more needed in. And protecting was what he was meant to do. He knew his outfit and his growling voice made him a more intimidating figure than was probably good for this situation, but he didn't have much choice with that at the time (though he intended to make the effort to tone it down for the scared civilians-- especially the children). He wasn't there for comfort-- he was there to protect. Fortunately the others seemed to be covering the 'calm them down' option, since that was still an important one.
