Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

"That's the next level!" Aqua cried out, using Aeroga to stop her fall. She couldn't risk holding still long enough to use a Shotlock attack, so she shouted, "Stand back!" and fired off another devastating Mega Flare.

Retracting the weapon, he changed forms once again, twirling the cloak around as he wound it around himself, vanishing as he did so.

Seconds later, from thin air, a large winged spear hurled out from a pocket dimension straight at the tank as Negi unfolded himself from said pocket dimension.

... And Will just jumped back and fired off more lightning at the tank. God she was so outclassed here.

Shaking off the moment of wariness, Kang snorted and used his commring to inform Command. He pointed to the right and raised his voice so everyone in the group could hear, "That looks like the heaviest concentration of Grunts, and I can see a few Grenadiers. Let's go." And with that, he dashed off, easily killing a trio of Grunts before they could even react due to the Haste spell.

Swerve, swerve, turn, dodge...

Shoutarou's close to the medical tent when an Ohm collapsed from the attacks of the others in his path. No way to go but over it! Shou gunned the HardBoilder, popping a wheelie just before impact to drive up the bug's carcass and off it, going through the air and landing near the others.

...and sliding several feet due to the icy ground before coming to a wobbly stop.

The cultist attacking Vivio was easily hit by Lupin's spell, but even that seemed to have a tough time taking him out, as he continued to move, if sluggishly. Devlin's fire only served to fuel his rage as he took the pain of being burned in his own armor. When Vivio hit him with her punch, however, it sent him flying back, landing with an unpleasant crunch.

Regardless, he eventually managed to pull himself back up onto his feet. Despite burns and broken bones, he rushed towards Vivio again in an animalistic charge.

Meanwhile, the other cultist that had been firing at Einhart ran out of ammo, discarding his weapon and pulling out an electrified knife, rushing towards the young mage.

Signum's not sure who this man is, but he's the nearest doctor. After blasting a way through the last of the Ohm air units between her and the medical tent, Signum and Sayaka land near Morgan. The former carefully deposits the injured Homura (metal shard still in her abdomen but thankfully having not cut any wider) on the ground just before Signum reverts to normal human size as Aibghalien's spell wears off.

"All three of these girls need medical attention immediately," Signum says in an officer's voice, indicating Mami, Sayaka, and Homura while simultaneously realizing she only remembered one of their names.

Signum ignores her own scratches, bruises, and acid-deteriorated armor as she immediately turns to go. She has to get back to her original team.

As the Tank struggled to fight the Magnera spell before it dispersed, Sasami took notice of the situation. One: they were horribly outclassed. Two: the thing, despite taking a Mega Flare shot, a gigantic spear and another bolt of Quintessence, was still standing.

At that point, she happened to notice something in the corner of her eye - a fallen Moraig Assault Walker. Running over to it, it seemed that it was still in order. The only problem was that it's power supply was a little more than shot.

"Hey, guys! Maybe this'll help!" Sasami shouted, just as the Tank started to break free. If they wanted to use it, they'd better do so now.

[identity profile] swordstabmagica.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sayaka blinked, landing next to Signum and nearly falling over. She's holding on to Mami. "Mami needs help before me!" she shouted as she steadied herself, trying to get Mami over to the doctor, over to a bed. After all, she could heal really fast.

The cultist staggered back after that, temporarily dazed, but he regains his composure quickly.

With a growl he discarded his ruined weapon, instead reaching for the electrified metal club at his side, swinging it at Peter wildly.

The ground was slick with ice, making it hard for Ren to keep control of the bike. A Grunt was just ahead of him, ready to attack, so he threw the bike onto its side, skidding along the ice to clear the space under the Ohm.

Once he'd managed to get away, he pulled the bike up again and made his way over to the others, a bit bruised and bloodied, but ready.

"You sure this is going to work?" he asked Philip, holding up the Memory.

The Asher's Sting Ray struck back, the close-ranged weapon plowing again against the Titan's arm with another magenta burst of beam. But instead of remaining in that position, the Asher would jerk its right arm back suddenly, simultaneously raising its Tempest bazooka at the Titan's 'stomach' area to aim for a close-ranged shot as the mech reeled itself back to avoid the claws that would now be free from that movement. The Asher took to the air, figuring it was probably a better idea to focus together and at least take one of the Titans down with teamwork as he made its way to the one the Nightmare and Aibghalien were targeting. If they could take one down, the other two would be that much easier.

Jr.'s blue eyes darted back and forth across the environment - all sides around him visible save for the cockpit he sat in and the controls in front of him, the walls on all sides around him invisible from the inside. He knew the Titan would be hot on his trail, so sent a barrage of missiles shooting behind him for a few extra moments, as fleeting as they might be, but perhaps enough to count. As Zouichi fired missiles toward the Target and Aibghalien his spell, Jr. fired another blast from the bazooka.

[identity profile] ohm-nom-nom.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
The Titans had similar tactics; after Zouichi's roll-away and counter-attack, the Ohm mirrored the Nightmares actions to clear some of the more heavy hits it would have taken from the lasers. Some hit, but its armor was tough - perhaps even tougher than the metal and mechanics that made up the machines Stacy's crew piloted. It's left arm went up, shielding itself from Jr.'s bazooka fire, but Aibghalien's Disintegrate spell hit the arm, hissing as it seared the shield-arm. It sent another group of lasers hurtling toward the Nightmare, as it carefully aimed one, huge power beam through the flashes of the fire.

The remaining two decided to follow suit of that air-borne Titan. One of them charging a huge beam attack to send at Aibghalien on the way up to try and keep him from getting another attack in so they could easier destroy their target. The other flew above and past the Asher, sending lasers shooting down around it to try and block Jr. off much like Aibghalien. And then the three of them, aiming for the same 'take one out at a time' strategy, circled Zouichi. One swept in with a claw crashing down while the other two sent large psychic blasts at him from a short distance.

"Absolutely," replied Philip, shooting several opponents with bursts of violet light.

Pulling out his own Gaia Memory, he added, "It's set for the maximum power level possible. Go nuts. Shoutarou, Hoshi, Ren..."

"Meow."

"And Mikku. Let's go."

Indeed, the girl Sayaka is holding on to is in horrible shape. Her shirt is dyed red with blood, so it's hard to pinpoint where exactly her wounds are. Closer inspection will show that there are several stab wounds on her chest, going straight through her back and out her front. One managed to spear her through a lung. The other, her heart.

To many people, she would be a hopeless cause. She's long dead, right? So why is Sayaka still so concerned?

"Go ahead!" Aqua warned. "We'll cover you!"

Fire magic surrounded her in Firestorm form, causing steam to rise from the frozen air around her. She got in close enough to make a few fire-powered strikes with her Keyblade before launching off a few mines underneath it, then flying away from it when her Firestorm magic faded.

Most of the cultists were forced to abandon their weapons, thanks to Tim's disks. Unfortunately, they were still armed, pulling out all manner of melee weapons. They rushed towards the two combatants, slowed by Soren's spell but pushing forward with enough fervor to break free from the ice.

[identity profile] hegemonstratos.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that worked out great. Einhart dropped the magic barrier once she noticed that the cultist was no longer going to be able to fire at her. She needed to focus if she was going to do this right though...

As soon as he was close enough to her, she moved to grab his arm with the knife and pull him towards her, her other hand moving to bend him down a bit as she sent her knee speeding towards his stomach. At least, that's what she'd be doing if she managed to get his arm.

As far as Tim was concerned, that was an advantage-- he knew they wouldn't be stopped that easily, of course. But close range combat was his own expertise. And while he didn't want to see any of the cultists dead-- he watched the magic being used for that reasons-- he was perfectly okay with harming them to get them to stand down.

"Focus on those that still have fire arms," Tim shouted to the magic-user. Not quite an order tone, but firm enough. "Disabling their advantage should be a priority." As he explained that, he lashed out with his staff, on those nearest to him, aiming for the forearms with a strong blow.

[identity profile] andyallgrownup.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Andy let out a sigh, dropping his gun on the ground as he moved his hands to the morpher on his wrist. It looked like they were finally having the time to actually morph and call the zords, so it was now or never. He wasn't going to let the Ohm get away with it, even as Lirath seemed to freeze around him.

"BLUE UNICORN!"

[identity profile] hisfathersstaff.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Creating three light spears, Negi hurled it at the tank to continue pinning it to the ground. He wasn't saying much, having burnt a lot of mana already as sweat poured down his face. This was much more intensive than just slugging it out with Fate.

[identity profile] radiantcourage.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Finally.

Hoshi nodded at Philip and dismounted from her bike. She grabbed her Lost Driver from her vest and placed it around her waist, it fitting snugly. Then, the Nazca Memory came next and she gave it a click.

"Henshin!" she called out as the memory repeated itself. Then, a tune (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL4HTWZJfV4) played as soon as flames and light licked at her body, covering her in Nazca's blue armor. Just as she transformed, Seraphiel took his own transformation and went straight for his archangel form, easily towering over the Rangers and the Riders themselves.

"That's a lot better."

((With Shaun's permission.))

On her way back to try and rendezvous with Aibghalien's group, Signum finds herself suddenly pelted with hailstones and buffeted with cold winds. Normally this would be a mere annoyance, but with Shrikes still swarming in the air and much, much larger aerial units quickly closing in and stomping all over thoughts of air superiority, this was downright dangerous.

Signum sends out a mental call to an ally who'd promised to stick close by. She wasn't the optimal partner in group combat, but when it came to being an extra set of senses and dealing with ice effects, there's one woman in the world Signum trusts more than anyone else.

Rein!

Just as the precipitation starts coming down dangerously hard, Reinforce Zwei appears.

"Ready, Rein?" she asks. The smaller girl nods.

"In!"

The two Wolkenritter merge together with a tastefully short light show given the circumstances, and shortly a newly white-clad and pale-haired Signum is off, dodging the falling ice shards with the alacrity of having eyes in the back of her head.

[identity profile] kandrakar-heart.livejournal.com 2011-08-17 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Will blinked, looking over at Sasami as she noticed just what the younger girl was standing next to. A machine. A big giant machine, with guns.

She had never tried using her powers on something that big before.

Will grinned, before she charged forward, flying up to the machine as fast as she could. This was going to be great!

As soon as she was close enough, she was blasting the mech with quintessence, fueling as much power as she could spare into it. After all, she could bring all the appliances in her apartment to life, how hard could a giant war machine of death be?

Not hard, apparently, as soon enough, the mech's eyes started to glow as it slowly brought itself to it's feet. On it's own. Without a pilot inside.

And then, heard throughout anyone's mind nearby, was one single word.

"KILL!"

And with that shout from the mech, the machine charged forward, pulling it's fist back before thrusting it forward right into the tank's head.

"What's that?" Soren asked, tone caustic (yep, he'd totally taken Tim's tone to be an order). "Weapons are dangerous? My, imagine that."

These cannon fodder were starting to annoy him. He could more than hold his own in a melee fight, but he'd prefer to take care of this as quickly as possible. A magically summoned storm rocked the area, sending targeted gale force winds and ice at the cultists that would shred them alive. Well, until they were dead.

It was time to aim for MVP take the kid gloves off.
