Zouichi ran down the hall, blowing past several guards and catching fragments of their conversation as he did so. Something about sending in the sigmas, confused snatches about smoke in the elevators.
Most of them stared dumbly after him at first, as if they hadn’t expected one of the intruders to be here. Maybe their communications were being disrupted – say, perhaps, by an earnest young recruit with a couple dozen bottles of wonder drug hidden somewhere on his person?
In any case, now was the time to draw their attention.
“Hey!”one of the guards shouted, chasing after him at once. The others quickly followed suit. Good. They were after him.
Not quickly enough, though – he rounded a corner, then leapt.
