And that was exactly the kind of lure into the unknown Mulder could never resist. He was intimately familiar with Escher's works, and so he couldn't help but delight in drawing the comparisons, as he followed the twists and turns, adapting his own sense of gravity and physics to allow the impossible to enter into the equation, as he followed the path, opening doors that should have led to the end of the road, and finding them inexplicably easy to follow.
