"Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

[ooc: Guardian Setup, General Mingling, Clone Checkup, Newbie Briefing, General Briefing, More Mingling, Back to the Meeting, and The Idea Guy sections are open. Backup characters introduced to the plot can join in the mingling subthreads if they want. The opening of new subthreads will be announced here and the ooc. Please read the linked OOC post for a plot timeline.]

"Well, you do have pages. And a spine, of sorts." The elf chuckled quietly.

"Having a self-described Evil Overlord say we should just use this as leverage, take our technology and go would tend to make some people upset, wouldn't it?" he mused, tapping a finger against his chin.

"Though i said something similar and Kon--the 'super boy' or whatever--jumped down my throat. I swear, it's like these people have never had to make concessions to the 'lesser evil' as it were. Though I'm certain you don't know anything about being lesser." Flattery worked wonders, most of the time.

"Goody-goodies, thinking 'evil' means 'stupid'," the book grumbled. "That guy seriously said that it was just as important to 'fix' this planet's society as it is to save the cosmos from destruction and bring back the countless people and worlds that've already been destroyed. Under what branch of thinking is that anywhere close to SANE, even?!"

The book exhaled sharply, its top half slumping a little. "Their own personal issues are going to wreck this whole thing, and everyone's so freaking unable to see the big picture that they'll let them!"

"No. Evil isn't stupid. If evil was stupid the Lich King wouldn't have nearly wiped out my people when we assumed we were safe behind our magical gates and twisting forest roads." A bit bitter there, Te'thelas? You bet.

"The big picture is what matters. Keeping our crew in one piece is what matters. This artificial person rebellion? Not important. Why should we give a damn if they're slaves, free, or being ground up for damned sausages?"

"Well, some evil is stupid. Zedd." He didn't even try to hide that namedrop in a cough or mutter. "Sure, we should care if our CREW is in danger, but that's just because it's our freaking crew. The rest of it? How are we doing ANYthing if we get ourselves in trouble and maybe lose some people just to play social justice crusaders?"

The book fell silent, then, for a moment.

"Don't see a damn way to talk 'em out of it, though."
