Party Down! [Open]

Paco hopped up on a box to survey the work already done.

It was getting toward “evening” in the City. They’d hung a sheet up on the Great Wall, and a couple people were currently adjusting the movie projector that had been constructed in Engineering so that the picture would fall exactly on the sheet. He’d collected the recordings from the Media Library himself, everything on there was appropriate for pretty much everyone who might show up.

At the other end of the space he’d picked for the party, a few people were testing the sound system (also constructed in Engineering) and arguing with each other, probably about the music. Well, he’d done his best, anyone who didn’t like it could throw their own dance party somewhere else.

In the middle, up against the outer wall of a building they’d hung lights from, Kang and his helpers were putting the finishing touches on the drinks area. And there was plenty of space for people to mingle or play tag or whatever if the shows and music weren’t to their taste.

Paco grinned and cupped his hands around his mouth to form a megaphone.

“OKAY EVERYONE,” he shouted. “TRY NOT TO DO ANYTHING THAT WILL LOSE US OUR PARTY PRIVILEGES AND LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”

[[OOC: Post-Melting Clock! Mix! Mingle! Make fun of the music, thread with people you haven’t threaded with before! It’s like a Pod Pop for oldbies!]]

If there was a party? Beastboy wanted to be there.

He was feeling pretty pumped as well, he'd found a secret stash of alien candy he'd hidden MONTHS ago and was thrilled to find it was still good! So in the spirit of sharing good fortune with those around he was dancing about with a bowl of candies sharing them with anyone interested.

A party with a sugar high was even better then just a regular party.

As far as Ruffnut was concerned this wasn't a real party until something was on fire or there was a fight.

But not wanting to break any kind of weird rule she stood to the side for now drinking and watching to see how these kids partied. She doubted it would be anything like a viking party but maybe she'd get lucky?

Azula felt horribly out of place here at the party, but at least she finally had some decent looking clothes.

She didn't look like a princess should by far, but she had been assured that these were the kind of clothes that "Modern people" wore. They would have to do while the tailor finished work on some more Fire Nation styled clothing.

In jeans and a long sleeved shirt one would almost mistake Azula for a normal girl if it weren't for that distant look in her eyes. The way she moved through the crowd like a shadow or a ghost. Like she wasn't even really there and perhaps you were just imagining her.

This situation...this setting. These were things a girl her age should be familiar with and yet she found it almost as alien as the most abnormal areas of the ship she had seen.

And so many people! Suddenly she realized how exposed she was. The noise from the music would make it all too easy for someone to sneak up on her. Cover her mouth, murder her quietly in the shadows. Hide her under a table perhaps.

She managed to cut through the crowd faster now, stumbling only once or twice as her body strained to adjust. Even with the daily work she was putting it through she still hadn't regained her graceful movements and balance yet.

Her back finally found a wall...well the wall to be precise. Now if someone wanted to attack her they would have to do it from the front, the sides or above.

...unless they were an Earth bender, then they could come from below!

Oh why in the vast universe had she come to this horrible event?

A party? Great! There was always time to have a little bit of fun, right? With something like this, it was always nice to head out and mingle.

Of course, with Sasami, she's still a little awkward in these sort of things and figured the new outfit she had gotten (http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/files/costumes/2293/22756/1270398876912.jpg) would be the best bet for the party. Despite how awkward she was in the place, Sasami paid it no mind, enjoying the atmosphere the best she could.

A party's a party, right?

Sonic was a little annoyed how bad he bungled attempting to convince that one dragon, but if anything, took comfort that SOMEONE had succeeded in getting help. Then again, with the dragons incredible dicks, maybe a few victories were better than everyone winning.

At the moment, though, Sonic was perched on a wall, relaxing as he listened to the music.

He did make a mental note, though, of taking over as DJ if they'd don't stop bickering.

Not participating, but watching with a mild eye, one Professor R.J. Lupin sauntered casually through the environs, keeping an eye on things as a good chaperone ought. He seemed quite unbothered by the music, which was due entirely to having placed a Selective Silencing Charm on himself to tune it out. While this led to the rather odd perception that people were shouting for absolutely no cause, it was, he felt, quite worth the gain.

There'd been no shortage of work to this point, but only so many opportunities to play as hard as he worked. Definitely time to let off some steam. No problems with the music - its loud, it has a good beat, works well enough. He's brought some of his own supply of booze - in a metal flask with rite of the shopping cart on it, so there's a whole lot more SoCo than that thing appears like it should hold, anyone who asks is welcome to try it.

Otherwise, for the moment, he's just mingling, seeing who is about, and if anyone really tries to start dancing.

"Heee, Paco! Great party, man." Jaime wandered up, slapping his friend on the shoulder.

"You actually organized something. I'm impressed."

"Hopefully nobody'll get that trashed."

It was certainly possible, though. Things on the ship were scarce sometimes, yes, but that was all the more reason for somebody to get in as many drinks as they could for a party like this. Jr. himself had made his way over for a drink after a short while, but thankfully he was quite used to knowing the limits of his own small body when it came to drinking.

Starfire preferred to remain above the dancing bodies. The whole scenario unpleasantly reminded her of another party on Earth, where all eyes were on Blackfire and the music was exceptionally loud. Still, everyone was celebrating life and smiling! That was to be rewarded with hugs everywhere she went.

Look out, or you just might get one.

Sherry bounced through the crowd, and skidded to a stop before Paco.

"You!" she pointed imperiously at him.

Miku liked the idea of a party, but the urge to just sit down and watch movies with everyone seemed to be a better bet (unless there was a horror movie happening... which she really hoped there wasn't - unless everyone in the City wanted to be treated to Miku's shrieks of terror). She watched people as she arranged drinks, needing something to do wit her time before things actually started happening.

"Aah, I think everyone will enjoy this," she murmured to herself. She turned and went to look for familiar faces, now that the work was done.
