Party Down! [Open]

Paco hopped up on a box to survey the work already done.

It was getting toward “evening” in the City. They’d hung a sheet up on the Great Wall, and a couple people were currently adjusting the movie projector that had been constructed in Engineering so that the picture would fall exactly on the sheet. He’d collected the recordings from the Media Library himself, everything on there was appropriate for pretty much everyone who might show up.

At the other end of the space he’d picked for the party, a few people were testing the sound system (also constructed in Engineering) and arguing with each other, probably about the music. Well, he’d done his best, anyone who didn’t like it could throw their own dance party somewhere else.

In the middle, up against the outer wall of a building they’d hung lights from, Kang and his helpers were putting the finishing touches on the drinks area. And there was plenty of space for people to mingle or play tag or whatever if the shows and music weren’t to their taste.

Paco grinned and cupped his hands around his mouth to form a megaphone.

“OKAY EVERYONE,” he shouted. “TRY NOT TO DO ANYTHING THAT WILL LOSE US OUR PARTY PRIVILEGES AND LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!”

[[OOC: Post-Melting Clock! Mix! Mingle! Make fun of the music, thread with people you haven’t threaded with before! It’s like a Pod Pop for oldbies!]]

"I'm Jr. - Gaignun Jr." This girl seemed pretty nice - really nice, actually. It wasn't too common a thing to see people who came to parties like this with the intent to possibly help others. The main intent, anyway.

He raised his eyebrows, looking both curious and impressed. "You know a spell for that? Really?"

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
"It's very nice to meet you," she called. Jr. would hear her voice straining---she wasn't used to having to shout over the noise of a party, not at all.

"Yes. It's the same spell I use for most ailments. A short casting heals the headaches and illness from poison, even if it's taken intentionally."

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh," he mused, thinking about that. He knew the general shortcuts people used to get over that, and he even knew how to cast ethers that did similar things, but not for something like alcohol. It was funny hearing something that merged the two together in some way. "Well that sounds really useful. You use it often? For that, I mean."

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
"My friends don't drink very often," Yuna laughed, "so it's not really needed. They're my guardians, they can't waste their strength that way."

Unless they're Sir Auron of course. But he had immunity to that kind of thing.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guardians? You mean like bodyguards?"

Either way, a term like that made Yuna sound pretty high-class. Or important in some way. Though Jr. was used to meeting people like that, so his question didn't sound exceedingly awestruck, just curious.

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. I am a summoner, and all summoners travel with companions on a pilgrimage. The journey's too dangerous for one person to walk alone."

She missed them terribly and prayed for their safety every night, but she didn't really see it as a necessity. She wasn't classy, just getting into danger.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-10 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Summoner?" he repeated. "What do you summon, exactly?"

Jr.'s initial thought, awesome monsters or something. A stark contrast to the only thing he was able to do something like that with.

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Creatures known as Aeons. When I call for them, they protect us on the battlefield. Once I travel to a temple and earn their trust, they join me."

Yuna shrugged, as if it was an everyday thing. Well, it was. Mostly. She wouldn't talk about the darker implications, though.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds pretty sweet."

He looked around at the others. "Are they big? 'Cause I'd show you the kind of thing I can summon, but that's prooooobably not the best idea with all these people around."

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"They're far too big to summon here," Yuna laughed, "unless I want to startle everyone by calling Valefor over the punch bowl."

No, that was too cruel. She couldn't do that! "They're big enough to catch and rescue us. It's helped more than once."

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
"You'll have to show me sometime! I wanna see'em."

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
"I will. I still need to test our strength together. Maybe you can join us?"

Yuna nodded to herself. Yes, another training session was necessary. That last battle had nearly destroyed her, and that was unacceptable.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure I can!"

If the presentation was as cool as it sounded, Jr. was already excited. One thing that hadn't gotten old for him yet was learning about and seeing all of the different things people could do. "What kind of practice do you guys usually do?"

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-11 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can we simulate a battle? I've heard that it's possible, but I haven't visited the Sensoriums to test it yet."

It isn't the type of battle Jr.'s used to, but it's something at least.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-12 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure you can! You can do a ton of things in the Sensoriums. They're really cool!"

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Anything you can imagine?"

That was how she'd heard it described, but she had to know. It sounded fantastic, almost unreal.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Yep, anything! Of course none of it's actually real, but it's a pretty damned good simulation. Endless potential of fun."

Of course, Jr. hadn't really tried to go all out on the fun himself just yet. But he'd get there, eventually.

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Fun, huh? Yuna didn't usually partake in fun, but she could make an exception.

"Maybe...we can do something fun after the training? Is there something you'd like to do?"

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Sounds good to me!" Though to Jr., the training itself sounded like it'd be fun enough to see.

"It'll be your first time trying it out, won't it? I'll let you surprise me."

[identity profile] leapoffayth.livejournal.com 2011-06-13 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Then I'll show you what I can do! I'll call you when I'm ready."

Yuna really hoped he'd enjoy this. What she had in mind was...a little unusual.
