"Easy girl, easy!" Steve laughed, grabbing the big dog by the shoulders and pulling her down off the couch. Once she was back on the floor, he slid behind her and plopped onto the couch himself, putting his arm over Miku-- and using the other one to block Shadow from hitting them in the face as she leapt up onto the couch, laying across their laps.

"Hi, Shadow," he said. "I think she wants some attention, maybe..."
