In Which The Overlord Is Moody [Open, Post-Council Meeting]

He'd said a lot of things at the Council meeting, of course. A lot of talk and enough action implied that he hoped he'd accomplished something, anything. It wasn't like Overlording, nowhere near as fun or as rewarding, but it had to be done.

She would have appreciated it.

The Overlord stood in the middle of the Hub, staring upwards at the countless tubes and signs up above with an air of bitter expectation. Mana swirled around him chaotically, reflecting the irritation that boiled beneath the exterior badass surface. Even the windless billowing of his cape and hair seemed slightly off -- more frenetic, less composed. And for anyone who could sense his mana power... it had decreased. Noticeably, though not so low as to dethrone him from his status as strongest in the cosmos, of course,

"Damn it, Salome," he said to the tube that lead to the Clothing Room, and thus indirectly to the Pod Caverns. "Where the hell ARE you? You've got no damn excuse for keeping me waiting."

The Chancellor steps into the area. Hearing that was a little hard to miss. "It is difficult to be left waiting, is it not?" He can't help but say.

"Councilor Zetta." It was clear from her sharp tone of voice that Wanda Maximoff was (still) not happy with him. "May I have a word?"

"Yo~" Ronnie greeted a bit cheerfully. "You alright Zetta?" She asked curiously.

"Probably wherever Hawke is," Lash answered close by, leaning on one of the walls, her arms crossed. "And I hate waiting so much! I wanna go down there and just break him out with my own hands."

"So I guess you're gonna keep this new for, huh?"

She was Mindy at the moment, preferring to go for a stroll and having helped Sasami with her restaurant for a little while, seeing no reason to sweat her ass off in her suit so after.

"Good for you. What the hell do you have that look on your face anyhow? Oh wait, that's right. You're on the council now, right. Bet you just had a meeting with the civvies. That was probably fun."

Yeah, not dripping with sarcasm at all.

"It's inexcusable," Zetta said darkly. "She's an Overlord and she's my disciple. I trained her better than this. What's the excuse? Her soul is in danger of falling out? That's crap."

He rammed the knuckles of his hands together, hard enough to spark. Not hard enough to break the skin; he was a demon, and thus awesome like that. But as much as he wanted to pretend he was angry -- and had even convinced himself -- it would take a very oblivious soul to think he was anything other than worried.

The Overlord went still for a moment -- or as still as anyone could get with the level of shameless power display and flaming hair and billowing cloak as standard effects could get -- then smiled darkly as he turned to look at her. "If you stop at just a word, I'll be impressed. Let me guess. You're still pissed at how I was talking in the meeting, and you'd like to lecture me."

"You sound cheerful," he said, ignoring her question blatantly. "I'm a little surprised. I figured next time I saw you you'd be scowling at me third-party."

"He at least has an excuse! What the hell's Salome's? I trained her better than this!"

Zetta, of all people, probably could go down there and start ripping people out. It was a good thing all around that he wasn't so inclined.

"Just because you told me I was a book doesn't mean I'm really in a hurry to be one now," he said, rolling his eyes as he turned to her.

Did she realize she'd never actually told him about the Hit Girl/Mindy dichotomy? He might have never noticed that they were the same person except that the status screen didn't change, so he'd always just accepted it as an odd quirk of hers, never knowing the reasons.

"Actually, it was fun," Zetta said. "I pissed people off by not locking up someone forever because they said she was bad, pissed the other Councilors off by speaking honestly and openly, and generally got to enjoy myself."

Ronnae tilted her head curiously, "Why would I be scowling at you Zetta?"

"I pissed off Kaya. Kaya and Billy are like this," he said, crossing his fingers. "Billy and you are like this." He made a V with the index and middle fingers of each hand, then thrust them together crudely. "So I figured it'd go down the line."

Ronnae rolled her eyes not really getting the reference. "Just because I'm close with people doesn't mean we have the same ideals you know. I actually agree with the things said. I can't.... no, I won't stand by and let someone lose their minds further because of past deeds. Everyone deserves a chance... I got plenty myself..."

"Same ideals, no, but you can be pissed if I hurt someone you care about, even indirectly." The mere fact that he understood that showed what a terrible subconscious influence this whole damns ship and its people had been on him.

"Besides, they WERE right. She's crazy, evil, and violent. I'll be proven right in the end, of course, but I'm not gonna blame them for hating the decision."

"The problem is that I understand where Azula's coming from... It would be hypocritical of me to deny her a chance when I myself was given many... when friends I had went through the same... when I had to put down those that where incorrigible... If it comes down to it I'll assist in taking her down, but until then. I have no right to deny anyone freedom." she kept her gaze to the floor, as if hurt for some reason.

"You were an evil princess who was defeated by a band of heroes and descended into madness after being denied what you thought was your birthright?" Zetta teased.

"Seriously, I'm kind of looking forward to this. Maybe I can make something worth the term 'evil' out of her." He shrugged. "Anyway, don't get moody over it."

She frowned. "You shouldn't be looking into ruining her chance, if she ever gets one..."

"Anyways, what had you in such a downer mood? Just that? That people didn't agree with you and yelled at you? Surely I must have the wrong idea Zetta."

Zetta stared at Ronnae for a moment, then chuckled. "You don't really think I want to redeem her or something, do you? Are you forgetting who I am, again? I'm evil, the bad guy, the villain, the final boss of the special dungeon you can't beat without a year or so of solid grinding and probably not even then. I'm not trying to save her. I'm trying to get my damn Netherworld back."

She really had forgotten. At least she knew better than to think people snapping at him would bother him. Hell, the actual thought of their irritation made him smile. "That didn't bother me. I'm pissed because Salome is keeping me waiting."

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that and that you are just trying to rile me up." She said with a frown.

"And who's Salome? I don't remember there being anyone by that name on the ship."

She shrugged. "Hey, I just figured you'd want to be yourself, with all of your memories and crap. Then again, I'm sure you like having a body again, who wouldn't?"

Mindy snickered. "Yeah, I heard about that. It's their own fault for talking and shit. I would have just killed the bitch and made sure it didn't get back to me. They're so stupid, they make it obvious what they're going to do. Everyone would suspect if she died, it would be one of them that did it."

Kaya had happened upon Overlord Zetta sometime after she had blown off some steam (i.e. beating the crap out of a few dummies in the Sensorium) after her messaging with Mai. Seeing him at the Hub, she could make a guess at who he was talking to.

Unlike what he was probably thinking though, Kaya seemed to not look angry at him, far from it: she just look tired.

"Hey," she said softly.

"Hyaaa ha ha ha ha! I never pretended I'm anything but myself," he said, amused. She could ignore it all she wanted, but he was Zetta, demon, Overlord, and badass dude!

"Salome is my disciple," he said. "For a while now. Not Hit Girl and Ruffnut. She's an Overlord too. How the hell have I not mentioned her before?" Because of deaging, Zetta.

"Suspect nothing, they said they'd do it." Uh, had anyone actually passed that on to Security? He assumed someone had... "How's that for a laugh? Me, the Overlord, defending a girl's right to live and be free against the 'good guys' of their world who want nothing more than to kill her or lock her up forever. Man, I freaking LOVE being me!"

"You look less angry with me than I figured," he said. Why bother just thinking things when you could say them out loud and gift the cosmos with your awesomeness? "Let me guess, you worked out some anger and now you're just sad and feeling hurt and betrayed."

"Maybe you're getting to that critical moment where you start forgetting stuff cause of age Zetta." she teased back. She crossed her arms and looked at him annoyed.
