Med Bay: Part Two
With the end of Quarantine, all of the patients who'd been kept in the bubbles had been released (with the exception of those that Medical felt weren't safe to release), and brought back to the Med Bay proper. Some of them might leave, with family or friends to look after them, but others might remain in the Med Bay. Others still were only just arriving, their loss of time not discovered until after Quarantine had ended.
But regardless of whether the affected were staying in the Med Bay or leaving, until this crisis was solved, Medical would continue to check up on the them.

Re: Go Fish! [Round One: Miranda, Rory, Sakura]
She looked no at her own cards - no matches. "Um...am I meant to ask first?" she said, worrying. They'd only just started, and already Miranda couldn't help but fear that she wasn't going to be very good at this.
Forgive me, forgive me. Didn't get the notif. Kick me next time I'm sorry!
He smiled faintly. "Miranda, you can ask first. Just pick a card you have and as Sakura or I for matching cards, got it?"
/slowly creeps in for a hug instead
Call it ignorance, or willing blindness. In a way, it had been both.
"He seemed all right with her when they were reunited." It was a factual statement, and something she'd only paid enough attention to in order to be ready for stress reactions. Or denial. They'd left together, and as far as she was concerned, that had been for the best. "Though that brings up the fact most people here don't have that kind of fall back. Lost, confused kids among relative strangers, if they start forgetting who any of us are." She frowned, concerned all over again.
But she shook that off and did her best to smile. Obsessing over it now would change nothing. Projecting futures that hadn't happened yet wouldn't better prepare her, just distract her. Time to wait for Miranda's call in this game of Go Fish!
NOOOO NOT THE HUGGING NINJA! D8 D8 D8
She looked down at her cards, biting her lip. She needed to pick a card that one of the others might have, but how would she be able to guess the right one? "Um...do you have a five?" she asked Rory, making a wild stab in the dark.
/gasp! Flee!
He sighed faintly at the question. "Near as I can tell? At some point she was on the other side of something he was involved in, and he considered her his enemy." He glanced at Sakura for comformation, she'd had better luck with Marco - and likely, Eva - than he had.
"Ah, uh...no. Go fish." Three twos, a four and a Jack. But no fives.
/sits all alone... just on my ooowwwn
She was distracted from her own line of questioning, thinking about how to deal with kids blessed with abilities that made them difficult to keep track of, when Rory turned Miranda's question back around to her. All in a glance, but it was there for answering nonetheless. "Yes, but you're looking at something from later in his life. Right now -- or right then," she amended her statement, "He believed his mother had been dead for some time. Blocking out memories that she was alive here on ship was probably his way of making it make sense." Or not getting his hopes up. Or any of the other possibilities she had briefly considered.
Sakura looked down at her cards. She still had the pair of nines, along with a three, four, and a funny faced card. Well, if the point was to ask for the cards someone else might have, fives were right out. She'd have to keep in mind that Miranda had asked for them if she ended up pulling one from the center stack. "My turn?" she asked, looking over to Rory. "Do you have any of the female crown cards?"
Re: /sits all alone... just on my ooowwwn
From talking to other people, Miranda had gotten the impression that akuma only existed in her world. But who knew what existed on other worlds? Maybe some of them had akuma too...or things like akume.
just kick me guys. Just kick me
He nodded, looking at his cards. "No, go fish. Do you have any Jacks, Sakura?"
He settled a bit better. "I haven't had anyone forget completely yet. Though some seem prone to forgetting how they fit. As the memories slip further away and start making less sense, who's to say that they won't?"
no subject
Of course, hearing Rory's question, she looked up and blinked away some of that intensity. "That depends. What does a Jack look like?" But since he hadn't said yes to the female crown card, she doubted she had it. "I think you'll have to go fish."
As to the rest -- "The're called Yeerks," Sakura supplied, if she didn't say anything more. Too much she didn't know on the subject still. They weren't native to Earth, however, if they were space parasites. Lovely.
no subject
And technically, it was her go and she should be asking for a card - except she'd gotten a little too distracted by the newfound terror of lurking space parasites.

He nodded. "Ship memories stop meshing up with the ship, say you've made a best friend here and at home you didn't have any, your brain might shut it out because you were defined by the fact that you didn't have friends at home. Does that make sense? The brain is odd at repressing things sometimes. Hopefully we won't have to deal with it, but I wouldn't be shocked if we did. and ah, there should be a J. Where the number would be, I took the Jokers out, so their should definitely be a J, if that helps, the Queens have a Q and the Kings have a K and the Aces have an A. Does that help?"
no subject
She wasn't sure if Rory had been stating the clarification for her, or for Miranda. Either way, she nodded again. "Complete ship repressions would be a lot to deal with." Something that bore thinking about, planning for just in case.
Sakura sighed, looking down at her cards. "Ah, yes, it does. I think it's your turn to ask, Miranda."
no subject
"I...um, do you have a seven?" Miranda asked Sakura blindly, just looking down at her cards and saying the first one that caught her eye.
no subject
He nodded, quietly supporting the statement. "Not something to be looked forward to. I hope they lose their powers as they go back through puberty."
no subject
If Rory's statement about puberty struck her as oddly out of place. "People have powers that only activated during puberty?" Talk about making things even more awkward.
no subject
"Then they're just like...normal humans?" Miranda asked, feeling concerned. That made them sound more like akuma, not less. Except no powers? At all? And Rory's next statement had struck Miranda as odd, too... "Why would...um...you know..." (Miranda blushed red, oh god she couldn't believe that she was talking about puberty with a man...) "have anything to do with powers?"
no subject
"Have you got any twos, Sakura?"
He studied his cards, frowning faintly. "Just like normal humans. They could do about as much damage as a human, depending on the weapons they have. As far as I know, neither has done anything to hurt the ship." He glanced up, relaxed. It was a medical issue, not a personal one. "Ah, yeah. According to Dr. Hussain, because of the flood of hormones, many powers activate with the onset of puberty. Therefore, when some of them start aging bellow that marker, we might not have to worry about it anymore. It won't work in every instance, but I'll keep my fingers crossed."

She darted a worried look at Rory. "I...um...I..." she said, so wracked by indecision that she ended up not deciding anything.
