The panzergeist spell and similar active defenses were designed specifically to counter frontal attacks from things like bullets. Usually energy attacks, but Signum's shield and momentum deflect the slug well enough that the attempt to graze goes far wide of her. Signum's charge goes uninterrupted, and she in turn tries to cleave through the man's gun with her burning sword to stop him from trying a more serious attack.
