He heard the pounding, massive footsteps right behind him, and without bothering to look back, he surveyed his surroundings. There had to be something he could--aha! There was a narrow alley between two of the buildings.
Veering off, he ran over to it and slipped through.
For once, being a pipsqueak served him well--there was no way Rachel could fit through there as an elephant.
