Surprise. Jara knew that facial expression, had seen it enough times on both Controllers and their temporarily freed hosts to understand what it meant. But what was it for? The human had already known he was there.

He supposed the fact that the human wasn't hurt was probably more important. Jara lifted one hand to pat himself on the chest. "My name, Jara Hamee. Ket Halpak, my kalashi. My...."

Stiff and inexpressive though his face was, his eyebrow ridges still furrowed as he struggled to find the right word; obviously--and understandably--English was not his first language. It seemed best to use it, though; all the humans he had ever met so far had spoken this. He nodded decisively a moment later as he remembered, voice confident once more. "My kalashi. My wife."

"Who is human?" Jara leaned back a bit, offering a large clawed hand to Daniel to help him up and trying to keep his blades from raking forward too far with the gesture; it was always awkward to do things like this with humans. With the blades sprouting from his arms and legs, not to mention his claws, it seemed that any friendly gesture needed to be ridiculously careful and slow to ensure that he didn't accidentally slice soft human flesh. Humans cut very easily, healed very slowly, and bled a great deal--it was hard not to cut them, but at the same time, it was much worse to do so.

It must be hard, always having to worry about being hurt. Poor humans....
