Daniel got the distinct impression of a mountain leaning over him. The sensation of weight just barely hanging in balance was overwhelming. It didn't seem aggressive right now, in fact, it almost felt like it was trying to be non-threatening, but that wasn't making the alien any less intimidating. He couldn't get over its size. More importantly, seemed curious, careful in the way it regarded him. Not violent.

He started to uncurl very slowly and hoped that he was right.

The alien opened its mouth and spoke. Daniel gaped. English. It spoke English. Not perfect English, but it was still English. He'd been expecting a completely new language, one that he'd have to try and learn it all on his own quickly, with no common threads to tie back to any of the ones he already knew. That was even if he could speak in ways they could register at all.

Relief flooded through him.

"No, not hurt." Surprised, nearly had a heart attack, slimy everywhere but no, not hurt. "Who're you? Who's Kalashi?"
