The Wanderers

The city of Orongo had many strange and interesting sights to offer to the visiting crew. Numerous shops and sources of entertainment awaited them as they made their way through, and many interesting people filled the city.

Perhaps the most interesting thing, though, appeared to be some sort of festival being held near the heart of the city. Numerous beings--all of the same race, which was neither Moai nor Rapa Nui--were about. They were a graceful and lithe insectoid species, with large, clear wings protruding from their backs, and each wore bright, colorful garb. They seemed to be even more fond of color than the Moai, as just about everything they had seemed to be beautifully and artfully colored.

Some of them manned caravan-like stalls, while others were in the streets playing vibrant, energetic music with strange instruments. Some were even up in the air, using their wings to perform beautiful aerial dances. The younger members of the groups seemed to be going out into other areas of the city, directing people towards the festivities.

They seemed to be generally well liked, especially by the Moai, but some among the visiting crowds seemed to be purposefully avoiding them, some muttering something about "those people." Regardless, they seemed unperturbed by anything, vibrantly enjoying themselves and gladly accepting everyone in the festivities.

Transmigration 9, meet the Rom.

"Masks, huh?" Karis squints at the Rom in the stall with a skeptical look. She's not especially alarmed by them - she's used to meeting strange creatures on her travels (and usually killing them, but that's not the point). "Whats so special about 'em?"

Fortune telling. Karis might not like beying yanked around by cosmic fate, but she was still a bit superstitious about that sort of thing. And if nothing else, it was an interesting way to pass the time and blow the credits she'd been given. Not like she had to hold onto them or anything. She rubs at the remaining flakes of paint on her dead skin and slips into the tent and dyes the elderly Rom over.

"...you giving fortunes, old-timer?"

"Eep!" came a small yelp as Ronnae was pulled into the dance area, non-threateningly of course. She flustered a bit scared at first, but the cheery demeanor of the festivity quickly drew her attention. It only took a moment for her body to move on it's own, swift flowing motions that seemed to match the beat were displayed by the young girl. She was quite the sight, yet those who had seen her fight knew she loved to dance, after all her fighting style revolved around it.

Ronnae looked at the instruments in awe, she loved music, and she was incredibly happy that a few weeks ago Billy had helped her find one for her own. She looked around happily studying the different instruments. Maybe she could find something that came close to her flute.

"...masks of my future." She didn't sound incredibly enamored with the idea and she reached out to tap on the surface of the stall with one claw, thinking. "...meh, might as well get a momento of my time on this planet. How much you charge?"

[identity profile] teethofneedles.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure. Always liked a good fortune-telling..." She carefully settled herself down, still feeling awkward - showing off so much her pale, dead body didn't do wonders for her. She liked being covered in a protective cocoon of metal, cloth and leather.

Vivio's wandering for some of the city's various stores had ended up encountering one of them. True, the thought of doing one of them seemed silly, but to her, anything keeping her away from those huts would be better than anything.

Curiosity got the better of her and she approached the old one.

"You... give fortunes, right?" she asked, curious.

Ronnae quickly made her way towards the artisans. Learning from other cultures was always great in her eyes. She watched the artists carve their creations with interest. "Those look really beautiful."

"Alright, sure."

She could afford thirty credits. Pretty cheap for a mask, actually. Well, unless it was junk. She tossed the Rom a handful of the chits she'd been given and took a seat.

"Take your time, I've got all day."

Not like she had anywhere important to be.

Thread Walker? That name sounded very familiar... Now, she really was curious.

"Yes. Yes, I do. Could you tell me mine?" she asked.

Ronnae stood nearby where she noticed the elder. She was curious about the fortune teller so she awaited her turn to be able to ask of hers. Once she arrived she bowed respectfully.

Karis sits, folding her bony legs. And she waits, staring intently and expectantly at the Rom.

"...you want my palm or something?"

Zouichi regarded the stall with some interest. Honestly, he was curious to see what a Thread Mask tailored for a synthetic person would look like.

"I'd like to purchase a mask," he said. "Will it take very long?"

After all, Anwei had expressed some interest in searching for a library here.

Ronnae smiled and bowed. "I would love one!" She quickly gathered her credits and awaited to get her own carved.

"Sweet!" the book said, sounding remarkably cheerful. "An Oracle!"

His minion cheerfully plunked down the grinning tome. "So tell me the news! Am I gonna pull out of this mess?"
