"Houiff," Rhiow said, vaguely disgusted. Her fur still bristled, and she kept the spell loaded, but she trotted up to Bobby all the same, sharing scents with him. He smelled not quite as disgusting as Earth houiff, which was a comfort. "Behave yourself or I'm going to open your nose up." She flexed her claws to let him know he wasn't kidding, and jumped up onto the arm of the sofa. "I am of the People. Our species is felis catus, or the common housecat."
"I'm a dog!"
"Yes, I know that." Rhiow turned her attention away from the puppy - he was young, after all, she couldn't expect him to speak sense. "I'm sorry I haven't been around in some time, I've been monitoring the progress of the new railway going through Grand Central. I hope you're well."
Mentally, she added a quiet Hello to Schmuz. Never one to leave him out of the conversation.
