tv is bad for you

Picard was sitting, watching television.

To be precise, he was watching episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He remembered the Farpoint mission, remembered Q and his 'trial for humanity'. He only grew more sullen when he switched it ahead many episodes to First Contact with the Borg. He watched as a model of the Enterprise was bombarded with weapons fire, glaring when an actor dressed as him came on screen, pleading with Q to help him.

"It's entertainment to them," he said, his voice flat. "It's just entertainment to them."

"Correction, somebody from our worlds came up with the show as entertainment. People think more of it than just that, especially you asked some of my friends," Kate remarked as a pause inbetween episodes.

She stepped further in, and added with some snark, "That is if you don't try to bite their head off and punch them in the gut if they do so. *Captain.*"

"The young woman also is my best friend, and she's been through some bad times herself. And a lot younger than she is now." Kate wasn't going to say more on it just enough to get her point across. What happens when a family member's a superhero. Family can be targeted.

She kept her voice level, since she wasn't going to get loud like Picard had, even if she was tempted to do. Captain or not because of anything, he should know better.

"And yeah you were, and you're damn lucky you weren't lecturing one of us who went through that business with the Yeerks because we actually *know* what it's like to be turned in something else outside of our control. Don't make assumptions about what other people been through. Also? A lot of us here? Were seen as entertainment on other worlds. How can anybody know who's real until they see that person face to face?"

"No kidding, and you really do it in a big way."

Kate ruefully added, "Show didn't show that part so much, but hey, just proves it's different from what you are. Just gave us enough an idea to know you're a good leader usually."

Kate is trying very hard not to laugh. She saw some of the show, but she definitely remembered the actor's pictures in her dad's magazine publications. Looking really good too. At least she thought so when she was a lot older then during the show's airing of course. She debated on mentioning the headlines of Sexiest Man for him.

"That's something known as fan service."

She shrugged, and grinned more, "A lot think the actor's good looking."

Kate remarked slyly, "Hey I won't say either way."

Kate ruefully commented as she glanced toward the screen, gesturing a hand to it, "That depends, do you really want to know about some of the media coverage of the show? Or you and the actor?"

Kate laughed, and then went to find some articles.

"Don't say you weren't warned then," she commented before finding several articles. Including TV Guide's Sexiest Man on Television, and People saying how sexy bald is with a quote from Patrick Stewart.
