tv is bad for you

Picard was sitting, watching television.

To be precise, he was watching episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He remembered the Farpoint mission, remembered Q and his 'trial for humanity'. He only grew more sullen when he switched it ahead many episodes to First Contact with the Borg. He watched as a model of the Enterprise was bombarded with weapons fire, glaring when an actor dressed as him came on screen, pleading with Q to help him.

"It's entertainment to them," he said, his voice flat. "It's just entertainment to them."

"Captain, that does not make what happened to us less...real. Captain, you are the bravest and most capable man I have ever met and if you can deal with the Borg, Q, and everything else that has crossed our path in our missions, then I believe that you can deal with the idea that...that our lives are fictional entertainment elsewhere." He crossed his arms, shifting his weight slightly.

Worf nodded.

"No. no one is perfect, captain. It disturbs me as well, and no doubt I would react the same way if someone were to speak of Jadzia's death in a similar way. I just wish...I just wish to make sure that you are capable of moving past this. And she is a child. No older then Wesley was when he came aboard..."

He paused, not quite smiling.

"I wonder where Wesley is now." Wistful. He doesn't miss the boy. He was never close to him, of course. But still, in this strange place it's hard not to miss those you knew, even if you were not entirely fond of them.

"I have to say, I wouldn't mind him showing up to lend his assistance." He clasped his hands together for a moment, then indicated the seat next to Picard.

"May I join you, captain?"

Worf sat quietly, studying the screen for a moment.

"Which incident is this, then?"

"That holodeck was more trouble then it was worth. Do you recall when Data's interfacing with the main computer caused it's safety protocols to go offline and Alexander and I were nearly killed? Or when you were trapped in your favored program?" He shook his head, slightly amused but trying not to let it show.

Worf simply gave a harumph.
