Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

"Very homesick," Pirogoeth said. She had been for well over a year now.

"...I'm sorry to hear that, darlin'..." he held up his hands in apology. "My mistake: Pirogoeth. I know the feeling. It can get tiresome, bein' far away from home."

"That it does, but I have been away a while. I have gotten used to the feeling," Pirogoeth said, looking just a bit more than normally distant as she answered.

Jim reaches down to his side... and then frowns, remembering that he doesn't have his flask on him. "How long's it been?"

"About...a year and a half by now. Tis hard to keep track while traveling," Pirogoeth answered.

"You ain't kiddin'." He leans back in the chair, putting his feet up on the table. "Don't think any of us expected to end up here."

"I do hope no one is used to being kidnapped by a talking creature that works as a vessel. I would think such a life would be difficult," Pirogoeth commented.

For a moment, Jim just looks at her, at how earnestly she said that... and then he laughs, honestly and good-natured. "Ain't that the truth. One time feels like one too many."

"It is," Pirogoeth agreed, just looking a bit amused. It was quite a bit more insane than her usual life.

"Well, at any rate, it's good to know that there're some other folks here who seem to have a good head on their shoulders." He shakes his head. "Some sanity left in an insane world."

"After dealing with too much insanity, one just accepts it so they do not go insane themselves," Pirogoeth said. Or bury it deep, deep, deep in her soul if it was a rather painful insanity.

Another chuckle - short and sharp, this time. "Story of my life, Pirogoeth." A pause. "...ya got anything shorter you don't mind bein' called?"

"...Piro is acceptable. At least this...clothing doesn't hide that fact I am a woman," Pirogoeth said, looking down at the suit with a little bit of annoyance. She didn't like something so...form fitting. It was unseemly. However, it certainly couldn't be mistaken she was a boy now, even if Piro sounded like a boy's name to her.

"Piro it is." He looked over at her, arching a just-starting-to-gray eyebrow. "That a problem you usually get? People mistakin' you for a guy?"

"As mine so tactful companion put it 'you resemble a little boy in pigtails,'" Pirogoeth quoted with a slight frown. "I would like to think he overstated, but the incident has occurred where one thought I was a 'girly boy.'"

"A lovely lady like yourself? Fool must be blind." Well, okay, he could kinda see it, but Jim opted to take the polite route. "Your 'companion' the type who don't know when to keep his mouth shut, I take it?"

"Silence is a rare luxury," Pirogoeth replied simply. "And an intelligent comment is ever rarer with him."

He knew the type. "Well you must've kept him around for a reason, then. Sounds like the type who's handy in a fight."

A reason? They never did have a reason. It was simply...they had nowhere else to go. "He is a very powerful warrior," she relented. Very, very powerful.

"See? He might be the type to piss people off, but at least he can handle 'em when he does." Well, from what she was telling him anyway.

"We hath been ejected from an inn more than once after he managed to pick a fight with every male and barmaid within aside from the bartender," Pirogoeth said.

"Well damn. Suppose that's kind of impressive. ...in a boneheaded way. Takes talent to be that irritating."

"It's a combination of acute paranoia, never thinking before he speaks, and at least ten mugs of beer."

Jim nods. "Suppose that'd do it. Booze can make a level man into a damn fool. If the man's already a fool? It ain't pretty."

He sighs. "Still, sure could use a drink right about now. Been a long day."

"I would not advise as such. Being out of your mind in a place you do not know can be dangerous," Pirogoeth said.
