Meet N' Greet
Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.
Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?
Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.
[ooc: read before tagging, plz]

"Alright, alright, hold on," he says, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration. "I need to figure out which timeline you're from. Is Vulcan still there where you're from?"
Ugh, sorry, net's been incredibly spotty this week.
His brow furrows in a frown, as he weighs his younger self's next question, "Vulcan...? Of course it's still there. Why wouldn't it be?"
Re: Ugh, sorry, net's been incredibly spotty this week.
He takes a deep breath before getting started.
"Alright, well, way in the future for me--and probably you, too, I'm guessing--Spock becomes some sort of ambassador. Apparently he had been trying to work out some sort of peace with Romulus, saying that Vulcan and the Federation would come to help them in times of need.
"Apparently a star near Romulus eventually went supernova, which was going to destroy the planet when it hit. They sent out a distress signal to Vulcan, and Spock was going to go there with this...stuff...called Red Matter that can make black holes so they could use it to absorb the force of the supernova before it hit Romulus. Unfortunately...he didn't make it in time. The planet was destroyed, but Spock wanted to try and use the Red Matter to absorb the supernova anyway so it couldn't destroy any more planets.
"However, instead of sucking up just the blast, it also caught Spock's ship as well as a Romulan mining vessel captained by a guy named Nero who'd survived the blast. Nero got sent back in time to just before I...we...were born. He was obviously pissed that Romulus just got blown up, and he took it out on the nearest ship...the Kelvin. My...er, I guess our dad was on there. He took command when the captain died, and he managed to get nearly everyone evacuated, but he...didn't make it. He went down with the ship."
For a few seconds he's quiet, with a somber look on his face. After a few moments, though, he shakes it off and continues.
"Spock...Spock didn't go back in time to when Nero did. He reappeared after my third year in the Academy. Nero had been waiting for him for 25 years, and captured him and took the Red Matter. Then he went to Vulcan and made Spock watch as he set off a black hole in the center of the planet with the Red Matter, destroying the whole planet."
Jim takes another deep breath, and sits back in the chair.
"We eventually kicked his ass, and a couple thousand Vulcans survived. Anyway, that's how my timeline happened...I think. Spock's bad at explaining things simply."
Re: Ugh, sorry, net's been incredibly spotty this week.
He finally frowns and leans forward again, "That's... certainly a lot to hear about, Captain. I'm... sorry... for your loss, for the loss of Vulcan. I'm not quite sure what I would have done without my father there for me. Well, I guess I know now. Reardless of all that, I'm glad to hear that there's still an Enterprise and that you have the chair. I'll be here if you want to talk."
