Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

"Well, no it-- actually, if you look at it that way, I guess it is a specialist school." Wyn says, one hand behind her neck. "Admittedly, it specializes in making sure that nobody accidentally explodes the timestream or calls down Cthulhu or something like that."

"I suppose monitoring the people who use magic is just as prudent as anything else. It could be dangerous after all."

"That would be the government's theory." Wyn says brightly, a slight edge coming into her voice. "Especially if you're Irish."

"Well, the earlier years weren't well known for their tolerance. Especially in the trivial things like race." Not that she knows all too much about that. Most of her life was spent learning how to kill things.

"It's not so much intolerance as the Crown government deciding 'hey, we decided that we don't like the idea of you being independent, Ireland, so we're going to occupy you for a while until you calm down', which promptly caused an actual rebellion, because people are predictable, which didn't work because the government was better-armed." Wyn is not exactly the most impartial observer, mostly because a: she wasn't alive during most of it and b: she's Irish.

"That's how things play out a lot of the time. There were rebellions when people decided that they didn't like the way the UNSC ran things. A lot of people died for no reason. Sometimes the best thing to do is just to sit quiet and wait for your enemy to kill themselves through stupidity." Kelly...well. Kelly just likes to hit things to be honest.

"... well, nationalism and fighting smart haven't always been related concepts." Wyn admits dryly. If it were up to her, this would have been solved with giant robots fighting, but... it was the eighties. She was barely alive when the war officially ended.

"What's the UNSC?" she asks after a moment, tilting a head in curiosity.
