Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

Controlled? More like he's gone into this-whole-situation-is-screwed-up-so-I-might-as-well-roll-with-it mode.

"Sorry, Bandit," Jim says, giving the dog a pat on the head, "Unless you know the way back home, I don't think you can."

A pause.

"You don't, do you?"

Well, Bandit doesn't know that. And besides, it all winds up with the same effect anyways.

He sees Kirk's hand coming down on his head; that kind of dominant gesture he doesn't appreciate, so he just politely tilts his head away.

Bandit shakes his head sadly. BANDIT KNOW 0. WHAT JIM-BOSS HOME LIKE?

Kirk pulls his hand back a bit at that. Mental note: the dog doesn't like to be patted on the head.

"Well, right now I'm staying on a starship called the Enterprise...you do know what a starship is, right?"

'STAR-SHIP' IS BOAT GO IN SPACE ? He inquires, looking to Kirk for confirmation. Yay, basic logic skills. JIM-BOSS B. LEADER OF 'EN-TER-PRIES'?

"...Close enough," Jim says with a laugh. "And yeah, I'm the leader of the Enterprise."

He looks at Bandit for a few seconds before talking again.

"What about you, buddy? Where did you come from?"

[identity profile] is-gud-dog.livejournal.com 2009-06-10 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
NOT 'BUDDY'. NAME = BANDIT. He feels the need to clarify, since he knows that 'buddy' means 'friend' but it's also a popular dog name and hey, maybe Kirk forgot.

IS BAD. 2 STILL HOME. 2 ALONE. BANDIT HERE, NO HELP 4 2. HOME = TEAM. HAVE COAT, GO 4 MISSION, MANY FIGHT. TEAM = 2 & 3. BANDIT LEADER OF TEAM. He explains, seeming rather sad whenever he speaks of his teammates.
