Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

"Then by all means, do your best." Lafiel seemed completely serious in that comment. She took another slurp. This was worse than the food from Samson's world...

"I do," Jack nods. "So, uh, you've been all over the galaxy, huh?"

Because that's kinda interesting. And Jack likes sci fi and robots and aliens and space and things. Secretly. When nobody's watching him.

"As a flyer trainee, I was serving on the Gosroth when it was ambushed in the first battle of Sofugnoff gate. With the ship's destruction, I and my future supply officer were forced to flee across enemy territory. We encountered...difficulties with a backwater noble in the Febdak system before crash landing on Clasbul. There we escaped the planet with the help of local guerillas before returning to Abh territory, were we delivered important information. After that I spent three years at the academy, before being given command of the Basroil, a destroyer. When the second war began, we served in Admiral Abriel's campaign, beggining with the battle of the Abptdic system, and ending with the succesful recapture of Sofugnoff gate. With the war's end, we were reassigned to the Lobnos system, a recently liberated prison planet. I had dispatched Supply Officer Lynne to the planet to deal with troubles on planet." Sllluuurrrppp.

"Does that answer your question?"

Jack catches most of the first part, but eventually it's just too much for him to sort all at once. He gets a sense of some kind of huge space military that he knows nothing about, and Lafiel is important.

"You could've just said yes," he says.

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
She shrugged her small shoulders. "You keep looking perturbed when I give you the answers to your questions." Halfway through the thing now.

"Yeah. Kinda..." Jack twiddles his spoon in his foodmush for a second as he tries to explain, "Too much information at once? I mean, I don't need your whole life story."

"That was my military history, not my life story." She says as she gets down to three quarters of the bland crap. A piece of the bowl breaks off in her hand. Is she expected to eat this too?

[identity profile] helipack-jack.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Close enough," says Jack. "And you get to eat the tray too. Try dipping it into the stuff, it's almost not as bad that way."

He demonstrates.

"I don't talk about home much here, people don't like villains. Right now I'm on the engineering crew. I just want to get out of here and get home, I'm a busy guy."

She tries it. It's dry and papery, but at least it has texture to it. And it soaks up the goop. With seasonings, this could be tolerable.

"You? A villain?" Honestly she doesn't get that kind of vibe from him. Definitely not like Baron Atosuryuac.

"Yeah. I'm kinda new at it but I'm gonna be the best there ever was," says Jack. But then he amends, "Except maybe Chase Young, I'm not sure I'm ever gonna be able to overtake his awesome."

Chase is not only evil and a thousand years old, the dude's got style.

"You honestly don't seem very evil to me." In fact, she thought he was more adorable and harmless.
