Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

Hook, line and sinker. "You're nice, Jaime-san...not at all like the adults on my world. They make us fight the aliens that fall to earth, then the alien clans that are already here are fighting each other and the people who wanna kill aliens are fighting everyone else..."

A small grin. "I'm not really an adult yet. I'm still just in high school. Sometimes in my world, high schoolers have to help fight the bad guys with the adults--but the difference is, the adults worry even about us. They're afraid for us sometimes, because they're afraid something bad will happen to us. So for us, even if we have the power to help, we're not made to, because we all have a choice--it's just a lot of us choose to."

He tilts his head.

"But then people my age have a few years on you. We've had time to just be kids. When I was your age, the most I worried about was homework and keeping my two best friends from fighting."

"Your world sounds like a nice place..." Yuri sighed. "What's...what's the rest of this place like? Do we just have to wait around while the captain decides wether to send us places?"

"The captain isn't the one who decides. It's Stacy--the ship itself can think, as far as we can tell."

"Oh. Like in a science fiction movie?" Said the girl with the alien on her head. "I meant more like...is there anything fun?"

"Actually, there's a some fun stuff. The Media Library has books and movies and music and stuff like that. Then there's the Sensorium, which has tangible holograms, so whatever you imagine up there shows up. It's like playing pretend and having it all become real."
