Meet N' Greet

Part of the crew might be gone, but life on the ship goes on. In fact, new people have woken up and, eventually, they've been spat out into the mess hall.

Maybe it's better to introduce them to some of the worst aspects of ship life first, right?

Anyway, the word is out that there's new people, and someone should probably go say hello. Before the n00bs mistake the glop for crew.

Cielo tried and failed a few times before he was able to pull himself up into a sitting position, his hand going to the side of his neck where that thing had poisoned him. Whatever he got hit with seemed t be fading at least, only due to his own weakness towards such things it was taking it's sweet time.

The young, blue-haired man was reasonably skittish, he was drugged and tribeless in unfamiliar territory, and he still didn't understand what was going on. His stomach churned and his heart ached and the pulsing of the suit against his skin didn't help matters any. He tugged on the front of it weakly, it made him feel like he was slowly being devoured.

Lafiel's eyes scanned the room, looking for familiar features or snippets of conversation in her native tongue. No such luck. No common factor but a feeling of confusion and the strange, uncomfortable new clothing they all wore.

Except at one of the far tables, a man with blue hair...not a style she'd ever seen, but still it was blue. There was a slight possibility he was of her people. Still not entirely used to the gravity, Lafiel paused a comfortable distance from him, tried her best to look friendly and approachable and greeted him in Abh. "Cluge sa?"*

[Hello/how are you, literally "Are you relaxing?"]

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Cielo's head snapped up at the sound of the nearby voice, and the motion was quick enough to make him momentarily dizzy. His eyes were blue but unnaturally so and almost digital bright. It was obvious by how he had trouble focusing that there was something wrong, but he was still trying to look at her, brows knit.

"I dunno what you jus' said, but can dere stop bein' t'ree a you now?" He shut his eyes tight for a moment, then blinked up at her again, looking for all the world like a lost puppy.

This man is not Abh...but he is ill. Lafiel thought, thinking back to her first aid training at the academy. His eyes were wide and wild and he appeared to be swaying, trying to catch balance.

She crossed over to him, unselfconsciously putting a pale hand to his forehead to check for fever.

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
His reflexes were still sluggish and off, and the most he really manages was to tilt his head back from being touched. Cielo didn't know who she was or what she was doing, but the attempt to grab at her wrist was delayed and ended up more a weak swatting at the air.

"Ey... What you doin' dere -aah!" And then Cielo gave a little flail and tried to grab at the chair thing before he leaned himself too far and toppled out of it.

"I'm trying to check you for fever. Now will you h-" And the man abruptly toppled off his perch. She managed to kneel and catch the back of his head before he cracked it on the bulkhead. She had a feeling his strang hairstyle would protect him but she wasn't going to take any chances.

Sigh. This was too much. She set him down on the floor and looked up and around. "Is there a medic on board?" She called. Not that any self respecting vessel wouldn't have one, especially one at least cruiser size, but you never knew on this disgusting prison-ship.

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Cielo groaned and tried to push himself back up on shaky arms. "What's a fever?" He knew what it was like to be injured, but he'd never truly been sick before. Being drugged was a new thing for him too. Even after experiencing all the different ways other demons could affect him, this was still something all together different.

"I'll be fine, ya? Just need... t'sit." He also didn't now what a medic was, and he wasn't sure he wanted to find out. It didn't sound bad, but he didn't think he could even shift to Dyaus this way.

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Lafiel summoned up as much command into her voice as she could muster, both as an Abriel royal and captain of a destroyer. "You are in no shape to be moving. You will lie right there and wait for medical help to arrive." This was an order fw in her universe would dare to argue with and she was counting on it keeping this strange psuedo-Abh grounder from hurting himself even worse.

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cielo waved is hands dismissively. "Medical...?" Was that like a Med-kit? Something seemed to click in his mind. It hadn't even occurred to him that 'Med' could be short for something else. He'd never had to think about it, or most things until recently. His world didn't have medics, or at the very least his tribe didn't. They were the smallest and lest equipped.

Yet they still won the war.

The closest thing to 'medical' for him were the med-kit treatments obtained through the Karma Temple's mechanized Vendor's. The only time he can ever remember not taking care of something that way was when they were stuck out on the field and low on supplies. Argilla took a large piece of shrapnel to the face and Gale had to stitch it back together with whatever they had laying around.

It's funny how nearly any situation could get him thinking about his comrades.

"M'not hurt." He said, reaching out to grab at the chair again. 'Medical' still only translated to 'injured' for him. "Got ssssssstuck wit sometin dat made me all woozy. Dat's all. It'll... go 'way soon, ya?

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Lafiel sighed and sat back, ready to catch him again if he fell off his chair. Honestly, had these grounders never heard of medicine? Exactly how primitive could they ~be~?

She folded her arms and looked at him as her own father had looked at her when she shirked her lessons. "By my estimate it will be at least eight hours before whatever it is filters out of your system. What happened?"

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he knew that look. Serph gave him that look sometimes, only Serph had this silent authority that could send a chill down the spine. He hated that look. So instead he concentrated on settling himself back in the chair with as little scrambling as he could possibly manage, then preceded to try and tug at the suit again. He really hated the suit.

"Fell outta dat pod ting, ya? 'N when I go try t'get de rest of me comrades out... dese vine tings come outta de walls... tro me around... den bite me!" His speech was slow and he ended up slouching back into the chair, one hand moving to press against the front of his right thigh. 'Made me all tired."

"Umoka, careful," Luly says as she hurries over. Aside from the jet-black skin and those strange tattoos—and the red irises of her eyes—she could look like a normal person... though the red cloth wrapped sari-like around herself is a sharp distinction from the usual plant-suit.

"I'm guessing this is something the ship did, it's a little happy in offering chill-out drugs, but we might want to get him to the med-bay anyway." Her tone is trim and efficient, though the faintly Indian accent is more prominent than usual.

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Lafiel glanced at the newcomer. Strange looking, but then to a grounder human, Abh were probably rather startling too.

"Thank the stars, there is a med bay? This aho was acting like he'd never heard of one." She said to her, then to him: "We're taking you there." Her tone of voic brooked no argument.

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
For Cielo, it wasn't the dark-skinned woman's appearance that drew his attention but the color she was wearing. "You...from de Maribel?" He asked Luly after a moment. With everyone wearing the same stupid color he couldn't tell who belonged to what tribe. At least the Maribel were under the Embryon now.

"Don't wanna go nowhere... need t'get back t'de pods. Gotta get me comrades outta dere!"

[identity profile] aworldnevermade.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
"The what?" Luly asks, moving to try and steady Cielo a little if he needs it. "Look... we can go there after, but for right now we want to make sure you're okay, right?" She's trying to be reassuring and a bit commanding at the same time.

[identity profile] not-prncss-tldr.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Lafiel stood with her arms folded, tapping her foot. "Do you have him or do you want me to take a side?"

[identity profile] dyausa-pita.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"De Maaaribel Tribe." He says it slower like that could help, only he ends up sounding a bit slurred. It's not his fault that when he 'woke up' he started talking differently then everyone else. It took his comrades a bit to understand him too. So, for now, he's figuring her confusion is because he talks funny.

"Eh? Eh? What?" They're still trying to take him somewhere, aren't they. "Said I would be fine, ya?" He was pouting, oh boy was he pouting.

"I have no idea what the 'Maribel Tribe' is—could you? thanks—but better safe than sorry about it..." She smiles a little.

Cielo may have a challenge cut out for him if he wants to go anywhere else, between Meluly and Lafiel.
