(no subject)

It had been awhile.

Beastboy had more or less figured out how to use the sensoiums (Once he thought of it as a giant video game it made things easier) so when he made his frequent visits to the rooms he would often muse up places he'd been or places he'd like to go.

But this was the one place he hadn't dared to return to.

A dark cave with a steady path leading up to the surface. Stained glass was melted into the walls their colors muted in the low light. A steady drip from somewhere indicated the ground water from above was still sinking through the earth.

And there in the middle of it all was a statue.

It was stupid of him to think of her like that. She was alive and free, her memories missing or...maybe not. But he needed to talk to someone from his world and she was always the easy one to talk to.

"Hey Terra..."

The statue was of a girl around his age in pieces of armor and wrapped in bandages. Her face a look of stoic determination as she faced her final moments with courage.

At her feet a sign rested,

Terra.

A Teen Titan.
A True Friend.

"I know I know, it's been too long and I have a really good excuse this time."  He rubbed the back of his head "See I guess these evil alien bugs blew up our reality and I'm one of the last survivors. Pretty wild huh? I've gotta help this huge group of people fight the bugs and hopefully find a way to fix everything, we're living on a ship that's alive...and the food sucks." He laughed at his own joke, "You'd probably love it though, if you liked Starfire's food this stuff can't be too bad."

He sat on the ground in front of the statue watching her and letting his mind drift back to a happier time.

Laughing, smiling, holding hands, his heart in his throat.

It started out like a fairy tale. It ended like a nightmare.

"I dunno I guess...it just feels so big you know? I've done big things before but this...this is...big! And I don't have any of the Titans here. I mean I've made some friends sure and they are really awesome! I wish you could meet them there's a vampire queen and this really awesome girl named Laurie, and Hawkeye and Katara...I wish you could meet them."

"Sup Beast Boy?" Robbie said, poking his head in, only seeing the green kid and fleshy green walls thnaks to hsi whole immunity to telepathy.

"Sorry 'bout that. Ah,Nothin' much. Just wondering if by some kind of miraculous intervention I could finally see something in here. Nada. You?" Robbie asked.

"Nope. Just a green room. Kinda have a whole immunity to telepathy." he replied, knocking on his head. "Usually comes in handy since it means I can't be mind controlled, but here it's kind of a nuisance."

Maaan the sensoriums were always taken recently. Lash had wanted to come in for a quick battle practice. Ahh well.

Decor was pretty interesting, however. She moved along the cavern, not quite in Beastboy's or the statue's view yet. Granted it wasn't exactly proper etiquette and it could be dangerous but...hell it was Lash and the situation clearly lent itself to it.

"HELLO!" she screamed. The voice carried and echoed a bit, "Hello...llo..." and she laughed. "Tee hee! Great ambiance and audio!"
thewunderkind: (Tee hee hee!)

Oh yeah, it was Beastboy. She gave him a wave after his less-that-heroic display trying not to laugh. She failed. "Eh, it's not like doors could stop me. I'd just blow them up."
thewunderkind: (You've got to be kidding me two-eyes!)

"Well..." she paused, trying to think of a good comeback. "...probably not." You got her there, Beastboy. She looked around the place. "So...you're the one who set up the sensoriums today?"

Spot had wanted to spend more time getting to know his other owner, and who was Laurie to deny a cute puppy's wish to spend more time with Sofia? So she is alone when she enters the sensoriums...only to find that it is already in use (because she had a field of flowers in mind, not a cavern.)

Dismayed, she starts to turn around to leave, when she hears a very familiar voice. I know that voice.

She turns around and walks a little deeper into the cavern, coming to a turn...where she can poke her head around...and see Beastboy sitting before a stone statue. He does not seem his bright and cheery self - which is the Beastboy that first met - but more...morose?

"Garfield?" she says softly, stepping forward, standing right next to the statue.
thewunderkind: (What in the world...)

"Spelunking? I never did that before. Where's your climbing gear?" Why was he in her line of sight? It wasn't so bad talking to a person but she had a feeling judging from his voice that he was hiding something. So she asked in the most delicate way.

"Are you hiding something?"

[identity profile] terribly2shy.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Talking about...me?" she has to blush about that.
thewunderkind: (Not sure what you mean)

She tilted her head to look at the mangled bat-turned-back-into-his-green-humanoid-form on the damp stone cavern floor. "Not really, no."

Her eyes shifted from him to the statue. So this is what he had been hiding? A statue of a girl? In a strange way, she reminded Lash of a much younger Nell. Whoever had carved it was really good at their job, the thing looked so lifelike she almost expected her to start standing and walking at any minute.

"Terra..." she mouthed, reading the plaque bellow. A Teen Titan. "...she was a team member?"

That...didn't make much sense to her.

"So wait...she turns into a rock statue?" That was a kinda neat power. Kinda. But why the plaque then? It didn't hit her what he meant until Beastboy continued.
thewunderkind: (Don't leave me)

Oh. It was oddly one of the rare times in her life where Lash wasn't sure what to say. Maybe last year in her own homeworld she might have made a comment or two about statues and heroes being stupid in very poor taste, but her personality had changed during the last war and her stay here. She bit down on her tongue until he was done speaking.

Imposing figures, she knew. Worked with them, even. In fact...someone close to her had had a similar fate. Not turned to a statue, but madmen threatening to destroy something once and for all seemed to be almost universal.

"I see," she finally whispered and tried to offer some sort of kind words. "She looked pretty." Was that acceptable? She had no idea. Did compliments to a person work in that situation? Argh! Being nice was so hard sometimes when no one told you what to do. "I know all too well about people sacrificing themselves. At least...she save the city, right?" Well, before the Ohm probably did, man those alien things made anything good that happened in any world sound so pointless and depressing.

"Of course I know about butterflies..." she whispered, watching as the school appeared. She'd never been in one herself, being a child soldier, and her eyes darted from the cemented games of hopscotch and basketball iron posts to the outfits everyone was wearing. So much coordination! It almost reminded her how mostly everyone here wore the suit Stacy had given them, or the Rouge's outfit. Just like soldiers, but with a lot less fighting. Maybe she would have enjoyed that too after the wars...

Beast Boy was right. If that girl wasn't the same one, it was either a twin sister or her clone. And clones had the memories of their predecessors. In her world they did anyway. "Maybe something wanted to thank her for what she did. A second chance to begin anew." She could get behind that. Maybe part of her almost felt jealous about something like that not happening to her.

She did giggle it a bit when the schoolgirls managed to keep him at bay. The scene was rather comical. "Tee hee, they look stronger than they seem!"
