Tumbling Along Heads Over Heels [closed]

Negi hit the wall and sort of slid down it as the wall closed up. "I see now why everyone hates that AI," he groaned, sliding down with his legs sticking up over his head.

He flailed ineffectually for a minute or two and groaned. "Maybe I'll just lay here for a moment... get my bearings..."

Sasami had pretty much wandered aimlessly since learning the results of the elections. Learning about who won still hurt - she tried her best to win people over, tried to show that she was as capable as the others and still they chose all of them over her.

Passing by the W.I.T.C.H. Bus, she barely noticed Negi's prone form before stopping and staring.

And... she just stood there, her brain still in shock.

Negi looked up from his prone position and waved. "Hey," he said. "You look sad."

He blinked. "What's wrong? You look like you've been crying." And he slid down to lay on the ground.

Sasami's lower lip trembled as he said 'crying'. She couldn't hold it in any longer and she ran over to where Negi laid and held him, sobbing.

"Negi-kun, I... I lost! I lost! They chose everyone else over me! They don't trust me! They don't trust the kids!" Sasami sobbed.

Negi was stunned. She didn't get a position? Why that...

Visibly reigning in his temper as Sasami hugged him, his hands came up and he hugged her back, not caring about anyone who saw them. "I'm sorry," he said softly, reaching up and brushing away tears. "I didn't know, I cast my vote and then that crazy AI got me and..."

Damn. No one trusted children anymore. This was upsetting on many levels.

"Everyone who was taken with me, we all voted for you."

Hearing that others HAD voted for her made her feel better... slightly. But, it still didn't take the pain away. The pain of doing all she could, even suffering from doubt, was for nothing. It probably didn't help that she couldn't accept Nathan nor Wanda's words of condolence, either.

For the moment, Sasami continued crying, hoping she'd cry herself into exhaustion.

Sadly, Negi could see where she was coming from even as he held her. Being a nine-going-on-ten year old teacher back when he started, he was fresh faced and wide eyed. He had been thrust into an adult world with little that he could do about it, except move forward.

His thumb kept on wiping away tears as she shed them as he held her close. He hated it when girls cried, and hated more that despite the votes, there was no way they could make a difference here.

Negi resolved that there was a need to talk with some of the council members, or at least someone in charge. Something. There was something he had to do... but they wouldn't accept a child. A plan began to formulate and it would take a little deception... but Nagi Springfield was still an unknown name.

After awhile, Sasami's sobs ceased and the girl opted to lay her head on Negi's shoulder. It felt weird, having their roles reversed - where Sasami comforted Negi over the loss of his friends, family and world, Negi was doing the same here, only that he was doing so because she had lost the elections. There was a mile wide difference between the two of them and yet, she still saw it as the same thing.

"...th-thank you... Negi-kun..." Sasami said, trying to calm herself so she couldn't cry again.

"Sasami-chan... it'll be alright." said Negi.

Realizing it was cool on the cement, he sat up, pulling Sasami into his arms as he carried her bridal style up into them. "Let's go inside to one of the new rooms. We'll talk there. Okay?"

Holding her close with his considerable strength, he pulled the girl up into them as he headed for the bus which stood open, unattended to with the loss of the caretaker to GlaDoS.

Sasami nodded as Negi went to lift her up into his arms. She clung to him slightly so she tried not to be a burden to him.

"...I tried... I tried and... what did I do wrong?" Sasami asked to no one in particular.

"I don't think you did anything wrong," said Negi as he journeyed through the hallways and stepped towards a door marked with a planet with a ring around it.

It swished open and he stepped into a large observatory with the top down which blazed to life, displaying the bleed in all its splendor above them. Carrying Sasami to the top of the platform, he laid her down and he laid down beside her, staring up into the sky. "Beautiful isn't it? It's the bleed, slowed down to a speed that is more natural to the human eye."

The myriad stars and planets seemed to slide by at a slow pace, and he reached down, grasping his hand in hers. "Sasami, listen to me. Remember when I was all depressed at losing my world and family and you came along and comforted me? I think, that's why I can't stop being around you. I... don't want to see you cry anymore."

"My grandfather said that the truest form of magic doesn't come from spells or potions, but from the heart. People might not see it, because we're both so young. But I believe that it's because we've got a long way to go, no matter how old or young anyone is."

Sasami looked out at the Bleed being displayed. It WAS beautiful. When she heard what Negi said, she felt her cheeks burn red. Did he really mean that?

"N-Negi-kun..." Sasami whispered, stunned into a brief silence. "...thank you..." with that, she wrapped her arms around him again, hugging him. "...stay here... please?"

"I will," said Negi, resting his arm around her waist. "Sasami I... I'm glad to have met you. I know deep down, I'm confused, I have a lot of people to give answers to. I have so many people to see again but... for now, I'm with you. And that's what matters the most."

He brushed a lock of her hair away and dried one last tear from her eyes. "I'll stay with you as long as you want."

Sasami's eyes brightened slightly hearing what Negi had said. He was happy to be with her. He didn't want to see her cry. Amongst all the pain of losing, it made her smile.

"Negi-kun... I'm glad I'm with you, too..." she said. There was so much running through her head, she didn't know what else to say or how to say. Instead, the girl pulled herself closer to Negi, then looked upwards, towards the Bleed being shown.

"...you're right... it is beautiful."

Negi pinked a little in the cheeks, despite the others not being able to see very well in the dark of the observatory. He hugged her around the waist and breathed in her scent. If he was older, he'd find this almost sexy, but the kid was ten after all.

Maybe it was youthful infatuation, maybe something else. But it put his mind at ease with the way she was so close and not crying anymore. "Yeah it is... not as beautiful as you though."

Sasami blinked, blushing as she heard what he said. "Ah... w-well... eheheh..." she stammered, embarrassed by what she heard. "...you're quite handsome yourself..."

Negi, charisma score +14 to all bonus rolls.

Negi chuckled and he hugged her reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'll do my best on my end. I think I've got an idea, but it might take a while. Provided Matt and Rein stop having fun in GlaDoSes mazes."

"An idea?" Sasami said, blinking a bit. "What would that be?"

"Well it's going to take one of my suits, and sunglasses, and age pills, and heading to talk to Kang a little..." said Negi. "Don't worry I'm not going to hurt anyone, just talk."
