Debriefing

Wedge was tired. He hadn't slept much since they'd gotten back to the ship. He'd been busy going over recordings, sensor-readings and other data from their fight with the Ohm. And in between that he'd been checking up on Shinn in the med bay and moving furniture and other things into the headquarters. But this was important. Discussing what had happened, getting impressions from his people and speaking to them about it would be important. So he waited, leaning against the wall in the briefing room, which had been refurnished, along with the other rooms of the headquarters. At least no one was dead, right?

Career military meant a lot of things, and one of those things was punctuality. Wedge had said the debriefing was at 1230 hours, and Trudy was there precisely ten minutes before it was scheduled to begin.

Not a small part of it was because, now that she had seen the squadron fly and assessed the capabilities of the members both as pilots and as leaders, she had come to the conclusion that she was one of the few who were qualified enough to be an officer.

And an officer had to be impeccable to higher command and approachable to their soldiers. She was trying to be both. She snapped off a salute to Wedge at attention when she entered the room. "General Antilles," she said.

She dropped into an at-ease position, her hands clasped behind her back. "Yes - about a couple of things, actually. Number one, how soon can the engineers have the upgrades ready for the mobile suits and our ships?" She wanted them in as soon as possible so they could start in the combat sims with the upgrades.

"And the second point... during our last briefing, I mentioned the possibility of basic training to Colonel Celchu. After seeing the battle - and seeing several faces missing - I feel that it is dangerous and irresponsible to continue training without first putting the pilots through basic."

Arha had started out an hour earlier than she might have, it gave her the time to get to the briefing early without appearing as if it had been a struggle--which it was. She moved slowly, carefully, but drew herself up as straight as possible. Her cracked rib was healing quickly, but it still hurt to breathe, but nothing had been punctured. Getting out Medbay had been a necessity, and she knew she might never have left it had she stayed.

Perhaps this was why she was Jed-Eye and pilot.

From the doorway she studied Wedge, then moved through it. His posture, the way he moved--all of these things she observed and kept her eye on as she approached. He was tired, overworked, such things did not sit well with her.

"After this meeting," she said, her voice more than a little rough, "it is time for rest, mm?" Her fingers caught his shoulder and squeezed. "You must do this thing, this relaxing, sleeping." She was one to talk as she had made it to the meeting despite her various injuries. Kyle made her rest and she had her tea. She was better than she had been after the crash and in the medical bay.

Her bruises were still there, though, giving her face a gaunt appearance, especially with the one eye's swelling just now finally receding.

"Jamie Hemeros reporting, sir."

He was particularly subdued today, tone, posture and salute lacking any life or enthusiasm. Then again, Jamie was never what one might call vibrant, so it was a subtle difference at best.

Kyle arrived five minutes early as was his habit. For all the years of not snapping salutes, and starching uniforms there were still some habits he couldn't break.

"Sir," he said as he saw Wedge. He'd decided to drop any familiarity, at least in public to serve as a better example for some of the new recruits. Not his normal way of doing business, but everyone needed to show their commander the respect he deserved. Still he let a bit of concern slip into his tone. Wedge looked like hell. Then again he probably didn't look much better. "I have my report ready if you want it now."

"Here, sir." Kawalsky looked sober, and sharp. He gave a salute. "I sent my report to you through the omnicomms. I can write it out if you like. Just need to find some paper."

"Hey, ho," Nura says with a nod of the head when she enters, floating above the ground with her injured leg tucked in close to her non-injured leg. "Am I on time for once?" she asks with a joking quirk to her tone.

Axl looked a little subdued (for him, anyway) as he slipped in, but subdued by his standards was still reasonably energetic by anyone else's, and he snapped off a salute to Wedge. "Sorry to miss the fireworks, sir." The space fireworks, anyway. He'd been up to his eyes in excitement on the ground, between the reactor mission and everything else.

The apology was more of a formality than anything; Axl knew perfectly well that until training actually happened, he would've been a massive liability in the air at best (and wouldn't have made it out of the hangar at worst). Still, even if it was just a formality and he knew he'd been much better off fighting on the ground this time, he was sorry. He'd rather have been up there with the people he'd already made the decision to fight with, and not being able to felt like something of a letdown, even when the reasoning behind it was solid.

He'd be ready to fly by the next one even if it killed him.

Think Wedge looks tired? Look at Lowe. Ever since the fight, he's been busy trying to repair the X-Wings and Mobile Suits damaged in the fight. Those Dustin's ship and Arha's X-Wing weren't that bad to him, it was Shinn's Mobile Suit, the Destiny, that gave him fits. It was obvious that the kid was too impulsive. How did he become a ZAFT Red Coat, any way?!

"Yo..." Lowe uttered, waving to Wedge. "Not too late, am I? If I am, sorry, needed to check a few things over." he said.

"You are tired. And if there is business to do, let me aid you so that it can be done." Arha frowned. "If you run yourself into the ground, no good will come of it. You need to pace yourself. So. After this meeting, I will aid you and then I shall drag you home with me. We will sit, relax, and have tea or caf. If there is still work to do then, we shall do it in comfort."

She leveled a stare at him, but it broke into an easy smile.

"Do not say no to me, Wedge Antilles."

"Understood, if there's anything you need just let me know." It would drive him nuts to have to hear Master Katarn over and over, but so be it. If it brought the squadron together in discipline it would be worth it.

Gavin was late, well, sort of. What he knew of the briefing was from Kyle and he hadn't even known where the headquarters was located at. He had been plucked up before the information had even been passed on to him which, still, was a raw nerve on his end. It didn't help any that he had missed two of the most important events since waking up on the strange ship and he had to miss it because of some 'testing'. It was a bunch of kriffing... Quickly the pilot let that thought trail off. Honestly complaining wasn't going to do any one any good let alone himself.

Leaning against the back wall he watched as other newer members of the squad started to filter in, crossing his arms and remaining silent. Introductions could come later. He was more concerned about hearing what he had missed than anything yet.

"Was it as nasty up there as it was on the ground?" Axl had been taken aback at the sheer number of opponents, before even considering their fighting abilities. Even after five years in the Hunters, he'd never seen that many targets in one combat zone.

She cupped his cheek, her enthusiasm and bright flash of joy singing out across her features (which didn't look half as tired when she was grinning from ear to ear). She really didn't need words to tell him how much she approved of his agreement--reluctant or not.

"You know I am stubborn," she said, still beaming as she let her fingers drop from his cheek. "And I shall be forever most pleased to have your company."

"General," Yzak greeted, taking a seat. Any wear he might have had didn't particularly show, a plus from being a Coordinator. He was still rather tired, though, from speaking to others, getting ideas about what sort of things the squadron needed to take care of, now that they had an actual encounter with the Ohm.
