To say Vader was out of his element was the understatement of the millennium. He'd taken refuge under a large umbrella and was seated in his his chair as though it were the Emperor's own throne. Under the pretense of meditating, he was keeping a three-foot radius of space around him sand-free.

His beach towel would stay immaculate until he got someone else's blood on it.

"Ah so the plan is settle down and raise your family, good plan, nice wholesome feel to it!" Beastboy encouraged though the whole "Killing people" means to the end was the opposite of wholesome.

"In this place, my son is older than I am and my wife is still dead," Vader growled. "I cannot raise him, but I will break the hold the Jedi have over him that he may live as a free man."

THERE IS A SUBTLE DIFFERENCE OK

"Well that's better then nothing at least." Beastboy mulled over what the others had told him about Vader, he really didn't seem that bad, who knows maybe he was the one telling the truth and the Jedi were just manipulating Beastboy too.

"Seems like a nice enough dude, I'm sure he'll be happy to be free." He added as an afterthought.

"He is my son," Vader said, looking far away for a moment. "How could he be anything less than perfect?"

"I dunno he could have a funny nose or something...or like a dippy haircut? I never met him face to face after all." A joke that once more proved his survival instinct was far from developed.

No words needed to be said. Vader simply picked Beast Boy up by the scruff of his neck yet again and looked him straight in the eyes, glaring.

Beastboy felt as though his blood had run cold, "B-but what do I know huh? Look at this hair! Seriously the dude's as perfect as they come no doubt." He resisted the urge to turn into a chicken again but seriously considered turning into a turtle.

Vader nodded, and released Beast Boy.

"It is not surprising he was chosen to be Grandmaster of the Jedi Order," he said, trying to act disinterested. "He is as powerful as I was."

Beastboy rubbed his neck where Vader had grabbed him, "Wait, as powerful as you were? Was that before or after the whole being tossed into lava thing?" It only now occurred to Beastboy he hardly knew any of Vader's story.

Vader nodded.

"The loss of my limbs and burns has had an adverse affect on my connection to the Force-- though I am still capable of killing every last Jedi," he added, fiercely.

"I was meaning to ask about that too." Beastboy scooped up some sand letting it pour out through his fingers idly, "Do you have like...a plan to do that or is it just one of those "Make it up as we go along" things? I mean I tend to handle those better then actual plans but I get the feeling we don't think alike on battle plans and stuff." He wiggled his eyebrows though he was beginning to suspect his humor was lost on Vader forever.

"My plan is to hunt them down like animals and then kill them by whatever means necessary. I do not need a more in-depth plan than that," Vader replied.

"I was not aware you were well-versed in battle strategy."

"You fight as much as I do you gotta learn sometime. Robin tried to teach me the real stuff but I just kinda...learn by doing ya know?" The truth was he'd learned alot from his time with the Titans, but he had an image to maintain.

"So what you just, corner them and lay the beatdown? Stacy probably won't like that much I hear she's like...really super peace loving and those gropey tentacle things are not something I want after me that's for sure."

"Indeed," Vader said, darkly. "I have been on the receiving end of Stacy's tender mercies more than once-- someday, I will thwart her though, and then all shall feel my wrath."

"Err...except me right Darth Dude? We're pals right? Amigos? Com padres?"

Beastboy was kind of hoping that would earn him a "Get out of wrath free card"

Vader studied Beast Boy.

"I am in debt to you," he said, finally, "for the way you helped me upon my release, and you treat me with a...twisted form of respect. You will indeed be spared, though in any case I advise you stay away from Kenobi and his ilk."

"Aw that was no big deal dude, I'm happy to help. That's what friends are for." He gave Vader a lopsided grin, "And Kenobi and them? No chance. I mean seriously I don't even know why they think they have a shot at the whole "Being evil" business with you around dude. You could scare the waves back into the ocean if you wanted to."

"Indeed?" Vader replied, dryly. "If only the Jedi had as much sense as you, then."

He looked thoughtfully at Beast Boy. "We were not acquaintances when you pulled me from the slime and muck that day, though. Why did you save me when Jade chose to turn her back on me?"

"Ah well...it seemed like the right thing to do ya know?" He shrugged, "You looked kinda ya now...helpless there on the floor flopping around all sticky and gross. I couldn't leave you like that it wouldn't be right." He smiled pleasantly, "Who's Jade?" He added as an afterthought.

"I am not helpless!" Vader snapped, "I never am! I would have found my own way out in due time!"

The mention of of his current rival for his son's affection did nothing to soothe his nerves. "Mara Jade is a former Emperor's Hand," he said, "who defected from her master and joined the Jedi entirely, married my son and bore him a child. She is insufferable."

"Easy easy!" Beastboy held up his hands defensively, "I said you looked helpless how was I supposed to know how scary tough you really are?"

Beastboy listened and nodded, "Tough break dude, love's a hard power to overcome in any situation."

This seemed to mollify Vader, and he leaned back in his chair.

"Indeed," he sighed, "my son is obsessed with this woman-- and I am sure she is not all she seems."

"Who is?" Beastboy asked idly feeling an uncomfortable wave of remembrance at a girl in his past that was just as much "Not all she seemed"

"I thought you said you did not know Jade?" Vader said, tilting his head.

"I don't." Beastboy sighed rubbing at his arm anxiously, "I knew a girl once who...well a bad man lied to her and made her do some bad things, and that meant she lied to me and my friends. I was just...being all lame for a minute." He tried to force a lopsided smile, "What's in the past is...well blown up by evil alien bug things."
