'Meat' 'n Greet

The rest of the crew assembled on the Observation Deck to meet the latest editions to their numbers. After the revelation that their worlds are gone, many of them are even more eager to see people they knew from home.

Several people are set up near the doors to provide the new people with omnicoms and comm rings. New crew-mates might see a green-skinned alien and snake girl among their number. There are also several authoritative-looking figures ready to introduce themselves.

There's a lot to tell the new people. It's going to be a lot to take in.

[ooc: Only new characters and Command Staff can start new threads for introductions, to limit the number of threads. Everyone else, just tag in and have your guys greet the newbies.]

"We are geth," it responds solidly. It's quiet for a second longer before it corrects itself, but gives no further explanation. "We are Legion."

It notes her displeasure at the lack of platforms; the inconvenience was understandable, but that she would have a distinct preference was interesting. "This vessel does seem to favor organic structures. We assume 'Grif' and 'Doc' are other AIs on board."

Bobby did love pod pops, even if there weren't people he knew about. Seeing all the new faces made him smile. As he moved through the crowd, he let his eyesight blend into their ice form. He watched the peoples heat signatures, some he knew, others he would learn with time. But there was one that was burning strangely. He turned his head towards the person and let his eyes return to normal.

Or they would have, if they hadn't widened the moment he saw who it was. His mouth twisted into a giant smile and he darted through the crowd.

"Jubilee!"

It was easy to see how someone who had just popped could be confused by the number of excited people there to greet them. For Kaylee, so far as she remembered, she was going on almost four months on this boat without a crew mate in sight. But Serenity was in the cargo bay, and even an empty ship was still a familiar one.

"Wonderful stuff, ain't it? Gotta warn ya, it's about the consistency of the food 'round here, too."

There was no hesitation on Kaylee's part, not right now, and no worry over later when she would realize how ridiculously giddy her greeting of him had been. She gave a happy bounce, ignored the sling, and threw both arms up around him as best she could.

Of course he asked. "It's fine, almost healed up. I think you'd be pretty impressed by the doctors here."

"Finally!" she gesticulated theatrically so as to hide how genuinely relieved she was to run into someone from home who didn't first look at her like she was a complete stranger, "Someone who actually recognises me! By the Force, I don't know what skincare routine you're all using, but it's working wonders. Not a crow's foot in sight."

Aine watched the man pace, he had an air about him she had to respect. However, as he was among those that woke up with her, he was hardly someone she could call an authority. However, the air about him still caught her eye. She moved closer, attempting to figure out if he was a sort she could call commander.

Something about him upset her hearts, he did have every look of a commander, things to respect. However, the same time a chill touched her neck, he didn't look to be a commander that demanded respect as such, he reminded her of stories she was told of her Great-Grandfather. He was feared, not respected, her mind went there. However, her Great-Grandfather was a good man, even if he was not a very nice man. "Are you as lost here as I am?"

She walked up slowly, carefully, her coat drifting near the floor. Confident in herself, at least trying to throw that face to the world. Subdued in her movements as she approached, searching for a sign of who he was. What sort of man he was.

"Sithspit," she exclaimed wearily, running a hand through unkempt hair, "You want the tediously long answer or the fatally long answer?"

Kang understood the wariness, and he wasn't offended at all. He'd been wary at first himself, but after hearing it from so many sources and seeing what he'd seen, he'd accepted it as a very real possibility.

"She might. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any records anywhere of who's in the pods," his wings rustled. "I wish there were, and I'm sure I'm not the only one."

Unfortunately for Simon, Jamie's about as far from an authority figure as you can get on Stacy - but at least he's not an unfriendly face.

He shakes his head. "Only by name. I havena actually met her, but I don't know if she's awake yet or not. It's verra hard to find anyone ye know during these things." Unless you're seven feet tall, which Jamie is most assuredly not.

"Ye said sister? Ye must be Simon, then." He sticks his hand out in greeting. "I'm Jamie McCrimmon. Kaylee's mentioned ye before. She'll be verra glad to see ye, I think."

Garrus scanned the crowd, keeping an eye out for anyone he knew. There were a lot of people to sort through, but Garrus could be patient. There were mostly humans again, with a small scattering of creatures he didn't recognize, but it didn't seem like -- wait.

He recognized that armor.

"Dr. Solus," Garrus greeted, a small smile quirked on his face. He liked Mordin; he'd heard a lot about the doctor during his vigilante spree on Omega, and he'd more than proven his worth on the mission against the Collectors. It was good to see that more of Shepard's crew was here.

Quirking an eyebrow ridge, Kang pointed out, "Unless someone else from Krynn recently woke up, I'm the only one on the ship that knows about what you were to become. And it's exactly that; future. Potential. Don't go trying to prove yourself to everyone and get yourself killed for it."

It was awkward, certainly, to be having a civil conversation with Tanis, but he really held no ill feelings toward the half-elf.

"Shhhhh Jedi Master secret," he said smirking. "How else are we supposed to lie about our ages to the students, and act wise and cryptic?"

It was nice to see some people didn't change that much in the future.

"Garrus." The salarian was mildly surprised to see the turian here, though not by much. The appearance of Ashley Williams, Legion, Shepard, and himself had led him to conclude that whatever force had brought them here wanted Shepard and her crew along. All the better, it meant that he had people he could rely upon.

"Glad to see you healthy. Shepard also aboard. Regretfully, seems to be suffering some memory loss." He left it at that for now. He didn't like being the bearer of bad news, but it would probably be better if Garrus learned now than from talking to Shepard later. Best to avoid awkward misunderstandings.

"Let me think, how about where are the actual clothes?" That was a nice neutral subject. "Not that I don't like the hip new fashion, but it's just not me. I need something a little more relaxed in fit. With pockets would be a big plus."

God he was Jono.

"Dude, just tell me Scooter and Logan are totally not here, and life is rocking." She thought for a minute. "And also tell me I can get out of this fashion travesty." She grinned, letting him go. "And tell me who is here. Alternate dimensions are like Tuesday to us."

[identity profile] fireworkbubbles.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
She whipped around the minute she heard her name. "BOBBY!" Jubilee pushed through the crowd. So, Jono, and a couple of the kids, and now? Bobby. She could deal with this! She wrapped her arms around him, giggling. "Tell me you have Twinkies and can totally feed my sugar needs." She teased, holding him tight.

"'We?'" Tex repeats, tilting her head to side a little. "How many AIs have you got in there?"

She shakes her head at the assumption. "They're humans-we were all stuck in the same stupid canyon for awhile. Grif's the whiny one in orange, and Doc's the stupidly cheerful one in purple."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Trust me, I know," Katara said, grinning. "The only time we were able to do anything like that was when we went off world for a little while. It's shame too: if I had the chance, I think I'd get some new clothes, maybe even some metals for a weapon of my own. We have a blacksmith here, and I know she's really good at what she does."

Katara grinned. "I think I'd like to see that. The only real dyes we use in my world are henna based, and they're for skin. If someone's hair has a different color, its usually because of an accident. I like yours though, its good on you!"

The grin's infectious, because it's spreading across her face too.

"I've missed you too."

That much, at least, is the truth. She has.

It nods in concurrence. "STA'C K'LTRRB'TXFT brought individuals to fight the 'Ohm.' Shepard-Commander brought individuals to fight the Old Machines. If more from our universe appear, it may follow the same logic," The doctor was an asset; one such capable individual. But seeing him here meant that it was all the more likely that 'Stacy's' story was true. That all they knew was gone.

[identity profile] fireworkbubbles.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So, she wasn't, totally, alone. Which was awesome. Hearing her name squealed, Jubilee turned around. She looked for someone she recognised. That was when she saw the girl with wings, and pink hair.

... Jubilee knew her right? She had to be one of the kids that were at the mansion. She'd been a bit busy with her own stuff. Her name... her name... her name... Damn. It began with an M right?

"Heya!" Jubilee said bright. Fake it until she made it.

"Working behind the scenes like that doesn't always work. Helping people without them knowing it sure, but trying to steer them a certain way I find usually doesn't work." It really didn't surprise him to hear that it almost blew up in there face. He'd done his share of behind the scenes operations, but never with the intention of guiding the galaxy. Just trying to solve one problem at a time. Maybe he was just letting his own feelings from the past cloud his judgment. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound like I was passing judgment. I'm sure your Order had the very best of intentions."

People always seem to. Way to make new friends Kyle.

[identity profile] fireworkbubbles.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I take it ditching this place doesn't happen very often huh?" She sighed. "Seriously? That's just cruel. I need my fashion ya know? Well, if we have a sewing machine and the material, I can make some... I think." Her fashion sewing wasn't as good as her decorating sewing though.

"Henna?" Jubilee winked. "I've been known to wear the art work now and again. But the hair? Totally chemical." She sighed. "I feel weird with black hair."

[identity profile] callmeotterpop.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Bobby wrapped his arms around the young woman and gladly pulled her into a giant hug. Out of all the people he expected Stacy to nab, Jubilee wasn't really on the list. It had been at least two years since he saw her. Give or take a few world destroying plots.

"I'd love to tell you that I've got a secret stash, but sadly Stacy didn't save them."

[identity profile] jediwiseass.livejournal.com 2010-04-02 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Deep breath, "We've been brought here by Stacy - she's the ship itself, like one massive jabitha craft - on behalf of a species called the Daligig. They've brought people not just from galaxies outside our own but universes, wholly different dimensions. Nobody knows how she can do that or how she can traverse from one reality to the other, but it has something to do with the universe we're anchored to know. It's big and it's red and it's called the Bleed."

The next part came slower, more muted. Jaina debated continuing at all, but decided that if her family could trust her with revelations of its size when she was Ben's age, he deserved the same from her. He was a Skywalker, he was born for world-shattering revelations.

"The Daligig claim our galaxy, along with the universe and those of the other people here, has been destroyed by a second species called the Ohm. We don't know a whole lot about them either, or how true any of this is. We've had no real proof yet and all we really know is we're stuck here indefinitely."

Spiel finished, she puffed air from her nose and planted a hand on his shoulder, "Have you seen your dad yet? Uncle Luke's way better at this sort of thing."
