He was trying to calm himself. It was difficult, not while this one was still so persistently recalcitrant.
“Just being outside of this place is help enough. The longer you stay, the more power the Nightmare King gains—and the more material he will have to destroy you in the end.”
"Do you think the Nightmare King would be so kind as to let you stay?" Sheik asked furiously - unlike Aeneas, he was not quite able to keep himself calm. "This way, you're still able to maintain some choice. Otherwise, the alternative is having all of this ripped away against your will, and it will hurt when it happens."
[Sheik, calm.]
He paused, took a steadying breath, and nodded minutely. "Come with us," he said, a little more gently, taking another step forward to offer Will his hand. "We do need you - we need everyone, for the survival of... everything. We can't let the Nightmare King win. Blin, please understand..."
Will walked right up to Shiek, silent, and glared directly into his eyes. This was something he could never do before; see someone as they are, instead of how they felt and what they could do. He just stared for a long minute.
"I hate you."
He didn't look away from Shiek at all, as the world started to crack and fade and his eyes regained their white cataract coating. He was pissed; he was probably going to stay pissed for a loooong time. But they had a damn good point.
'You're doing it for Kala. Remember that.' he thought, over and over again, like a mantra. He had to keep reminding himself why he was giving it up; not just the sight, but the chance to die of something like old age.
He missed that idea.
With his dreams gone, he turned away from the two and adjusted Ria's strap on his back. His time and world may be gone, but he still had her. his six string would always be there.
Sheik didn't respond in words - a part of him felt he deserved Will's hatred. He had had something good - never mind that it was a lie, he had still been the one to drag him from that.
"I'm not sorry," he said quietly when Will turned away from him, "This is for the good of everything. I am sorry you lost your family in the first place... I am not sorry for doing this."
He glanced back at Aeneas and sighed. "Let's go, then."
