Who knew? They had something else in common.

"It's tempting, I know," he said softly. "You want what you've lost - that's only natural. But..." And he took a step forward, one hand outstretched. "You can't stay here."

((OOC: Yeah, fair enough. Also, what do we do about Jean-mun's hiatus? Just say that they all go to find her after Will's out and handwave that bit?))

Aeneas shook his head sullenly and let out a low hiss from his ruffled feathers, breaking his silence and polluting the atmosphere with the unusual noise. If this human can be defiant, then so could he.

“If we do not bring reality here then reality will find you itself,” he took a few brisk steps forward, not imposing himself between the two, but still far enough to make himself noticed (moreso than usual at least), “And believe me, that revelation will be many times more unpleasant than if you leave now.”

((ooc: Works for me if it works for everyone else.))

A low, slightly manic chuckle escaped Will's throat. "What I've lost? Oh, this has noting to do with what I've lost. People die. It happens. I'm used to it. This is about what I gain."

He grinned. Yeah, definitely entered a manic phase. "Ye guys don't get it. Ye see, but ye don't see it. Reality is always changing and shifting. For once, one singular moment, it shifted in my favor. I died when I was 25, blind my whole life. God brought me back with a mission, and gave me a stupid gift; I don't age. That way, I can keep working until someone kills me again. The one thing he promised I'd get someday has finally been given to me, 60 years later. I can see, boys, and I'm lovin' it. Why would I go back?"

For the first time in a long time, Aeneas felt honestly frustrated.

“Because it isn’t real!” he argued, now taking the liberty to put himself in the front, “I know it seems wonderful and beautiful and fantastic beyond all belief, but as soon as you let your guard down, as soon as you give in, the Nightmare King will rip you apart, limb from limb, emotion from emotion. He is using you, human. Using you like the puppet you are.”

…Wow. That was…wow. Certainly won’t see Aeneas do that on a regular basis.

And right beside Aeneas was Sheik, hands balled into fists. "You died when you were twenty-five? Fine. I died when I was nineteen. And I would not go back, because even if I could, it still wouldn't be real. This entire world is a lie. This room is a lie. The people in it, aside from us, are lies. It's a good, pleasant lie, perhaps, but you will not be able to keep it."

Normally, he wouldn't have dreamt of telling anyone anything about him, especially his death. But if it made Will understand...

"You think you can see again," he said quietly, "But you're still very much blind to the fact that if you don't accept that this isn't real, then we all die. And this time, we won't be brought back."

"You think I don't know that? You think I can't tell the truth from fiction? I don't care that it's all lies! Lies are the better part of my life. And for once, I don't have to see through it. For once, I get a choice."

He paused for a minute, to be sure his next words would sink in properly. "And I choose to stay. You don't need me, anyway. Outside of dreams like this, I'll be practically useless to you."

He was trying to calm himself. It was difficult, not while this one was still so persistently recalcitrant.

“Just being outside of this place is help enough. The longer you stay, the more power the Nightmare King gains—and the more material he will have to destroy you in the end.”

"Do you think the Nightmare King would be so kind as to let you stay?" Sheik asked furiously - unlike Aeneas, he was not quite able to keep himself calm. "This way, you're still able to maintain some choice. Otherwise, the alternative is having all of this ripped away against your will, and it will hurt when it happens."

[Sheik, calm.]

He paused, took a steadying breath, and nodded minutely. "Come with us," he said, a little more gently, taking another step forward to offer Will his hand. "We do need you - we need everyone, for the survival of... everything. We can't let the Nightmare King win. Blin, please understand..."

Will walked right up to Shiek, silent, and glared directly into his eyes. This was something he could never do before; see someone as they are, instead of how they felt and what they could do. He just stared for a long minute.

"I hate you."

He didn't look away from Shiek at all, as the world started to crack and fade and his eyes regained their white cataract coating. He was pissed; he was probably going to stay pissed for a loooong time. But they had a damn good point.

'You're doing it for Kala. Remember that.' he thought, over and over again, like a mantra. He had to keep reminding himself why he was giving it up; not just the sight, but the chance to die of something like old age.

He missed that idea.

With his dreams gone, he turned away from the two and adjusted Ria's strap on his back. His time and world may be gone, but he still had her. his six string would always be there.

"Let's go."

Sheik didn't respond in words - a part of him felt he deserved Will's hatred. He had had something good - never mind that it was a lie, he had still been the one to drag him from that.

"I'm not sorry," he said quietly when Will turned away from him, "This is for the good of everything. I am sorry you lost your family in the first place... I am not sorry for doing this."

He glanced back at Aeneas and sighed. "Let's go, then."
