Mal was walking through the pod caverns, not paying attention to anything in particular, until he heard a familiar sound coming from one of the pods. That meant a podpop was happening. His suspicions were confirmed when he saw a naked girl sitting on the floor.

He walked over to her, and held his hand out in case she wanted help standing up. "Hey. I'm guessin' you've just arrived, and you're really confused. Well, you need anythin' explained, and I'll do what I can. Can't guarantee I'll be any good at it, but somethin's better than nothin'."

With a shrug, and a smile, he added, "I'm Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Welcome to the ship."
