I feel the need...the need for speed [ CLOSED ] [ ATTN: ROGUE SQUADRON ]
At last, it seemed the new version of Rogue Squadron was going to be getting off the ground. It had been a good morning run, followed by a bit of calisthenics and some cool down time. Then breakfast and the squadron had been reassembled at the Sensoriums. Wedge looked over the assembled recruits, his helmet tucked under one arm.
"Alright. Today, we'll be starting with the basics. Take off, landing, basic flight maneuvers. Maybe more if we have time. You'll break into your flight wings and take separate sims. I trust all of you to do your best. If there are any problems or questions, you can contact me on the comm rings. Let's get to it."

FLIGHT 1
FLIGHT 2
FLIGHT 3
Now, now, now. [slap] Patience, Padawan.
Had she been anyone else, she might have been bouncing up and down in glee. The grin, however, was right there, wordlessly blasting let's go! at him as clear as anything. Arha wasn't going to be satisfied until she had whatever lessons Wedge offered down to the letter.
And she had been ready to learn the second she'd woken.

"Howfastaretheywereagain?" he asked, bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet to keep himself from just running off.

FLIGHT 3
Mara looked over the three volunteers she'd been assigned, and wondered if this was some sort of attempt by Luke to trick her into working on her inner peace despite anything that might happen. She watched impulse bounce on the balls of his feet and ran through a technique to ward off a stress headache. Wedge wanted them to be pilots, and she would turn them into pilots. Whether they wanted her to or not.
"First order of business is to get everyone into a ship and through the start up procedure. Then we'll worry about how fast they're going to go. Think you three can handle that much?" She pinned Impulse with a look. "And no skipping steps."

He taps at the controls a few times and the engines thrum into life. Well, at least he already knows which buttons to press.

"I'm just hoping whoever this belongs to doesn't come after me when they wake up." Sam grinned as he joined the girls, trying not to slouch too much. He did sort of tower. "Ready when you are, General."
He was on a training wing with Wedge Antilles. Sam was doing his damnedest not to geek out.
Re: Now, now, now. [slap] Patience, Padawan.
"Alright. Before you strap in, do a walk around your fighter. Check for anything obviously wrong exxternally. Damage to the craft, exposed parts, and so on. Once that's done, get strapped in and we'll go over the pre-flight checklist and start-up. Let's go." Wedge turned smoothly and headed for his own fighter, following his own instructions as he began a quick circle of the snubfighter, checking the outside for any obvious problems before scrambling into the cockpit and strapping in.

He pressed a few buttons and... "Whoops!" Those were the guns. Okay, it wasn't exactly like Space Shooters IV. He tried again, this time hitting the right buttons. The engine started.

Yet.
She glanced down the hangar bay and into black for a moment, then stared hard at it. This would be fascinating.
"I am strapped in and ready," she called.

"Soryu's ready!"

Finally, though, he climbed up into the cockpit, settling into the seat with a wide, wide grin. "Oh man, I still can't believe this is happening," he said, strapping himself in before hitting the comm ring. "Winchester ready and standing by."

"This is One. Four lit and green. Prepared for take off."
no subject
"Three is green," Arha said crisply. "I am ready to do this taking off."

Mara slammed her helmet on and walked to her own simulated ship, sliding into place and pulling on the harness without even thinking about it. She had been doing this for her entire life, and the start up sequence rattled off by memory.
"Flight, check in when start up is complete and you're green to launch." Assuming they figured out where the start buttons were. Did any of them actually read the manual? This was one way to find out.

He folds his arms and from his cockpit shoots a glance in Bart's direction, just to make sure he doesn't interpret 'check in when start up is complete' as 'jam down on the thrusters'.
"Warmed up over here. Ready when you are."

She tapped her foot impatiently, although she made sure she wasn't hitting the wrong pedal.

Finally, though, Sam comes over the comms. "Four is green. Prepared for take off." If he sounds slightly embarrassed, well, that's probably because he took so long.
