Steve backed off, instead keeping his eyes out around them-- especially at the wire grates sealing off the crawlspace underneath the building beside them. He knew all too well what kind of things were hiding down there.
The woman's voice continued screaming for help. She sounded terrified, begging and pleading for somebody to come and find her.
"You mind being more specific? Is this about that Nightmare guy everybody's talking about?" he asked. "I doubt he can make up any nightmares worse than the ones I already have."
"Steve! Where are you? Help us!" screamed a second voice.
Steve's face turned a little green at that, and he looked a bit sick. "Well, he's doing pretty well today, all right..."
